What to expect
This 60-minute workshop invites you to experience traditional Japanese techniques, breathing, and form while immersing yourself in a quiet and focused state of mind. First half: Decorate a lacquered maneki-neko (lucky cat) with Kyoto washi paper. Then, using a bamboo tube used in traditional lacquer decoration techniques, steady your breathing and sprinkle gold powder to create your own original maneki-neko. Second half: Turn an authentic stone mill and spend approximately 150 seconds quietly grinding matcha with full concentration. You can then enjoy the freshly ground matcha as tea. At the end of the experience, put on a Japanese-patterned haori and pose with your handmade maneki-neko. You will receive one instant photo as a souvenir.

Reviews
Fun activity. Walked through all of the steps to create a meneki neko and the staff were very helpful, friendly and encouraging, and just generally very nice people. They waited for us outside of the building so we could easily find them and like the description says, it's about a minute outside the Shin-Osaka station. In addition to the maneko neko, we also got a Polaroid of us with our creations, a lucky charm, a clear file and they even shared a matcha with us.
