What to expect
- Visit the Dujiangyan Scenic Area, a World Cultural and Irrigation Engineering Heritage site, built in 256 BC under the direction of Li Bing, Governor of Shu Commandery. It is the world's oldest surviving, continually operating damless water diversion project. Consisting of three main components—the Fish Mouth (Yuzui), Flying Sand Weir (Feishayan), and Bottle-Neck Channel (Baopingkou)—it achieves automatic water splitting, flood discharge, and sand removal, creating the Land of Abundance. During the tour, you can see the Anlan Suspension Bridge, Fulong Temple, and Erwang Temple, experiencing the ancient wisdom of working in harmony with nature for water management.
- Head to the Tiangong Kaiyan Immersive Cultural Experience Hall to watch the pioneering large-scale live-action dynamic sand table performance art, which helps you understand the millennia-old water management wisdom of Li Bing.
