Things to do in Chitose

Thank you to our guide, Risa (or perhaps Lisa?) from Qingdao, for leading us. The whole trip was very smooth, also thanks to the punctuality of the group members and the driver's snow driving skills. This Sapporo trip was a wish come true for me. I've wanted to come for ten years, but various reasons meant I didn't have the chance until I was in my 40s. When planning the itinerary, places like Lake Toya and the Ice Waterfall Festival were really hard to reach without driving. Luckily there's Klook. I used Klook in Okinawa before to get to many places, and it didn't disappoint this time either. Although I was the only Hong Kong man in the whole group, the overall experience was excellent. Thank you to everyone for making my trip so fulfilling.

Went to all locations as specified on the itinerary. Enough time was provided at each. Only downside was the place we stopped and could have lunch at - all the restaurants were either full, out of our budget, or closed due to having sold out of their ingredients for the day. Guide suggested us to go to the Seico Mart convenience store if we couldn't find a restaurant, which quite a few groups ended up doing. There was enough food at the convenience store so that wasn't an issue. The highlight was definitely the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival which we had to pay an extra ¥1,000 per person for when we arrived (purchased tickets there). It was a great experience. If you are taking lots of photos, then the time there may not be enough. Overall, the other spots were a little underwhelming. The bear ranch was not cheap to enter and was a lot smaller than expected...

This tour solves the hassle of public transportation from Sapporo to Lake Toya. Taking a car is the most time-saving option, especially if you're only briefly staying in Hokkaido and not driving. The pre-departure communication and itinerary explanation on the day of the tour were reassuring. The winter days get dark quickly, but Frank and the driver still tried their best to take us to the spots while there was still light, and discussed with the group members when we needed to make choices about locations. The weather was great, and chasing fireworks on the boat was a unique experience 💪 (the fireworks also tried their best 🥹 It's good to experience it). It's also great to participate in activities when traveling solo~~ (Thank you Frank for taking pictures for me 🤳).

We arrived at 1:30 PM after having lunch at the New Chitose Airport domestic terminal since our arrival was at 12 PM. I thought it would be a group tour, but since it was off-season, only 2 people from our team had applied. Usually, they could cancel it if a team isn't formed, but they fulfilled their responsibility and responded very kindly. Especially, two staff members saw us off for just the two of us, and the driver was so kind. He even gave us an umbrella because it might rain when we arrived, haha. The schedule was a reasonable amount of time to see Otaru, and they got us to Sapporo on time. I think booking a tour from the airport was a great idea rather than making plans again in Sapporo. Andy the tour guide is very attentive and gentle, explaining precautions and relevant information before arriving at each attraction. The whole day was fulfilling and happy. Andy the tour guide really looks like Andy the teacher from Youtube, always smiling and talkative. Highly recommended!

there was an issue with communication of time and we almost missed the tour. Confirm time in advance even after you receive the mail.

It was an amazing trip! Yuni Garden and Hoheikyo Dam were definitely my favorite spots in the itinerary. Our guide Ma was kind and even contacted us via LINE to remind us about the meeting place and time. He speaks Chinese and English! He also gave great recommendations on where to go. Each destination had plenty of time to explore, especially Yuni Garden. I highly recommend this trip! I’d love to visit Yuni Garden again in spring and summer. 💗
