Fantastic 5.0
Booking an Ayutthaya day tour through Klook was an absolute highlight of the trip, offering a seamless and enriching way to explore the ancient capital. Ayutthaya Historical Park is magnificent, and having everything organized ahead of time made the entire journey completely stress-free from start to finish. Our tour guide, Nicky, truly made the experience unforgettable with her deep historical knowledge, warm personality, and thoughtful pacing throughout the temple complexes. The Klook booking included comfortable, air-conditioned transport and well-timed itinerary stops that allowed us to beat the midday heat while taking in the best sights. Highly recommend this tour if you want to escape the busy and crowded life in the City.

Wonderful half-day trip to Ayutthaya, and the perfect way to see the old capital from Bangkok! The small group size made the whole experience relaxed and personal, and the itinerary was well planned so we saw the highlights without feeling rushed. A special thank you to our guide, Sam, who made the day. He was extremely polite and well mannered, always friendly and attentive to everyone in the group. His English was excellent and very easy to follow, and his knowledge of Ayutthaya and its history was outstanding. He explained how the kingdom rose, flourished and fell, and brought the ruins to life with great stories rather than just facts. We learned so much more than we would have on our own. The transfers were comfortable and well organised, and the tour was great value for money. If you are interested in history and temples and want a stress-free day trip from Bangkok, I highly recommend this tour, and I would ask for Sam as your guide if you can. Five stars all the way!

An exceptional experience! Thank you to our tour guide Roy and the driver for their arrangements and guidance. The entire itinerary went very smoothly. Guide Roy arranged tickets and activity schedules in advance and even helped take photos, which made interacting and taking pictures with the animals at the Ayutthaya Zoo much easier. Moreover, guide Roy gave detailed explanations of the history of Ayutthaya's ancient temples, giving us a deeper understanding of Thailand. Although the weather was very hot, under the guide's leadership, the entire trip was extremely comfortable 👍

Thank you so much to our tour guide, Pi Toto, for your patient explanations and care throughout the entire day. From the very beginning on the train to Ayutthaya, you introduced the history of the railway and thoughtfully chose comfortable seats so we could fully enjoy the scenery during the one-hour ride. Upon arriving in Ayutthaya, a dedicated tuk-tuk and driver were waiting for us outside. The ride was extremely comfortable, and complimentary drinking water was provided. Thank you to the tuk-tuk driver for patiently waiting for us as we visited each attraction from around 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Every single sight left me amazed and in awe, especially the café where there were actual elephants and we could interact with them. Most importantly, the café had a wonderful atmosphere and the food was delicious. Special thanks to Pi Toto for recommending a reasonably priced souvenir shop and dessert spot. Finally, thank you to the dedicated driver who safely brought us back to our destination on the return trip. I sincerely recommend this tour—you can book it blindly and get an amazing team. I am beyond satisfied with the whole day's itinerary!

Our private day trip to Ayutthaya was the absolute highlight of our time in Thailand, and it was entirely thanks to our incredible driver/guide, Nut. He is a rare gem who perfectly balances being both an expert driver and a brilliant guide. Once we arrived at the ruins, His passion for Ayutthaya's history truly shined. He brought the ancient kingdom to life with fascinating stories, cultural insights, and a deep respect for the temples. What made the day truly exceptional were the thoughtful touches. He expertly timed our itinerary to beat the massive tour crowds, ensuring we had peaceful moments at iconic spots like Wat Mahathat and Wat Phra Sri Sanphet. As a wonderful bonus, Nut is an amazing photographer! He knew all the best angles and effortlessly captured beautiful memories for us throughout the day. From recommending a fantastic local shrimp market lunch to sharing genuine Thai hospitality. Don't hesitate to book your Ayutthaya trip with Nut—10/10 stars!

I booked this tour twice. First in 2023 with my husband, then in Aug 2026 with my mom. And like the first time, everything was well organized, and we had a great experience. Our driver and tour guide, Warin, was wonderful throughout the entire trip. He was very kind and informative. He shared interesting information about the places we visited and took very good care of us from start to finish. We appreciated his thoughtful touches, like providing free ice-cold water and lending us a hand fan because of the heat. Warin is also a great photographer! He took so many nice photos of us. Driver, tour guide, and photographer all in one! The itinerary was packed, but everything went smoothly. It was a great experience exploring attractions outside Bangkok. Special thanks to Warin for taking good care of us.

Ayuthayya is historical site so booking Private Tour is recommended especially for family. Don’t just go there and take picture and leave. You are already using your time, effort and money, so make the make it informative and memorable. Our Guide is Chacha, she was early in our hotel, she’s energetic all the way and knows in and outs of history. Also went thru lunch in a local resto beside the river, food was great, price was reasonable and cheap.

What to know about Ayutthaya Historical Park

Located in Thailand, Ayutthaya Historical Park was one of the most prosperous cities in Southeast Asia and the capital of Kingdom of Siam (now Thailand) from 1350 to 1767. Today, you will see ruins of numerous grand temples, palaces and Buddha Statues, showcasing a blend of Khmer, Sukhothai and Sri Lankan architectural styles at this historic city. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 due to its historical and cultural significance.

History Of Ayutthaya Historical Park

A thriving Siamese capital

Founded in 1350 by King Ramathibodi I, Ayutthaya became the Siamese capital and the heart of Ayutthaya Kingdom for over 400 years. It was strategically based on an island surrounded by three rivers that provided natural defence and facilitated trade with China, India, Middle East, Persia and Europe. As part of its royal prominence, Wat Phra Si Sanphet was established as the kingdom's most important royal temple within the royal palace complex.

Destruction & Decline

In 1767, the Burmese army invaded Ayutthaya, burned most of the city and destroyed its temples, leading to the kingdom's downfall. Many of its ancient monuments were left in ruins, marking the end of the historic city of Ayutthaya.

Protecting A Historic Legacy

Recognizing the site's historical significance, the Fine Arts Department registered the Historic City Of Ayutthaya as an ancient monument and began conservation efforts after getting approval from the Thai government. National laws such as the Ancient Monuments Act, City Planning Act, and National Museums Act protect Ayutthaya's historical sites.

In 1991, the Ayutthaya Historic City was officially designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, ensuring continued conservation of its ruins, temples, and palaces for future generations.

Top Spots To Visit At Ayutthaya Historical Park

Wat Chaiwatthanaram

Marvel at the architectural masterpiece of Wat Chaiwatthanaram, a riverside temple showcasing intricate designs and craftsmanship that define Ayutthaya's golden era. Located on the banks of Chao Phraya River, this temple is surrounded by eight smaller chedis similar to the Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

Wat Mahathat

Wat Mahathat is famous for the head of a Buddha statue entwined in tree roots, an iconic image associated with Ayutthaya. The prang (tower) at this temple is said to be one of the earliest examples of Ayutthaya-style architecture.

Wat Phra Si Sanphet

One of the most important temples in Ayutthaya, Wat Phra Si Sanphet is where royal ceremonies were held and the ashes of three Kings are believed to rest.

Wat Ratchaburana

Wat Ratchaburana was built in 1424 by King Borommarachathirat II in memory of his two brothers, who died in a battle for the throne. Its unique feature is that it has a crypt beneath its tower, which was found to contain valuable artifacts such as gold jewellery, weapons and a bronze Buddha image.

Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon

Built by King Ramathibodi I in 1357, Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon is well known for its line of seated Buddha statues around the base of the chedi (stupa). During the Siamese-Burmese wars, the temple served as a military base for King Naresuan and his troops
