The best time to visit Luodong is from October to April, when the weather is cooler for night market walks and cycling around Yilan. Summer is lively but hot and humid, with afternoon showers more likely.

Take a Taiwan Railways train from Taipei Main Station to Luodong Station, or use intercity buses through the Hsuehshan Tunnel from Taipei Bus Station. Driving from Taipei usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours outside peak holiday traffic.

Luodong town is easy to explore by walking, taxi, local bus, bicycle, or scooter rental. For attractions outside town, taxis, tour buses, or private car charters are more efficient than relying only on infrequent rural buses.

Stay near Luodong Station for the easiest train access and quick walks to restaurants. The Luodong Night Market area is best for food-focused travelers who want evening convenience. Countryside guesthouses around Dongshan and Wujie suit families or travelers planning a slower Yilan itinerary.
