Traveler reviews
Most of the places here feature wild animals. There are many different species, and the zoo is quite large. If you are traveling with kids, you will need approximately four or five hours to cover everything. For me, as an adult, the best part was the gorillas. Around 2:00 PM, they have gorilla feeding, and at 12:00 PM, they offer a gorilla talk. During these times, the gorillas come out of their enclosures, providing a very close encounter. You can observe them eating and engaging in playful activities. If you are an adult, you will definitely enjoy the gorillas. For kids, the sea lion show is also good. Be sure to check out their daily activity schedule to know when things are happening. The gorilla talk is when the animals are most active and come out of their enclosures.
Taronga Zoo is a must visit when you’re in Sydney. It’s a massive zoo so a lot about 3 to 4 hours to visit. I really enjoyed seeing so many animals including species endemic to Australia. It’s well connected to the city. And it gives a lovely view of Sydney CBD, Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.
fuss free and easy entry, just walk straight to the entry area to scan the QR. slightly cheaper than online or over counter, very value for money and worth visiting at least once!! my own tip is to take bus 100, cheaper option and not necessarily slower as there is bus lane during the journey so timing wise may be the same time as taking car/uber/didi. reached ard 945am (opening: 930-430pm) and ended around 330pm (went through all the coloured trail, had lunch and 2 shows-free flight bird and seal) so for future guests reference on above.
It's convenient because the bus waits right in front of you when you get off the ferry! It's huge, so give yourself plenty of time. There are many different animals haha. The giraffes with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House views are truly beautiful. It feels like nature and the city coexist. But these days it's so hot that most of the animals are resting or not visible. I recommend going in the afternoon rather than early morning. Everything you buy inside is expensive, so buy it outside if possible~~ The place where you can see tigers is really exciting. I highly recommend it~~ I want to come again next time.
Experience: KLOOK instant confirmation. On the day, first go to Circular Quay Wharf #6 to exchange your ferry and zoo tickets. After arriving at the zoo by ferry, you can choose to take the Free Shuttle to the Main Entrance or walk 300m to the Lower Entrance. The zoo is large with a wide variety of animals, making it suitable for all types of visitors. I chose to go to the Main Entrance first, take my time to explore, and walk towards the Lower Entrance, then head to the pier to take the ferry back to Circular Quay. Overall, it's convenient and easy to manage. I enjoyed 3.5 hours of happy time in the zoo.
Booked my Taronga Zoo tickets with return ferry via Fantasea Cruising and it was such a smooth experience! I travelled solo and the ticket redemption was super easy — ferry arrived right on time. Loved how convenient it was to get to the zoo by ferry while taking in the harbour views. I only had about 3 hours to explore because I had another activity after, but it was definitely worth it. Plenty of food and drink options inside, and the zoo has animals we don’t have back home so I really enjoyed every bit of it. Highly recommend going in the morning for the shows (like the sea lion one) and to see the animals more active. Plus, you’ll get an amazing view of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House from the zoo! 🦁🦘⛴️
There are many different animals in Taronga Zoo. The zoo is well organized and clean. The Sydney city view is spectacular. Seal show was great too.
Hassle free experience of collecting the ferry tickets to the zoo. Zoo was huge & rather abit difficult for elderly to go up & come down steep hills. Couldn't finish seeing all the animals as i wasnt sure how to go about as the directions of other trails are abit messy. Otherwise, had fun seeing the animals that was not found in other cities of Aussie.
