It was a delightful tour with our lively guide, Loopy. Since we were traveling with family, there were many things to consider, making it difficult to plan the itinerary. However, this tour was perfectly organized, visiting only the essential places. Thank you!

I joined the Nara Onsen tour today, and the overall experience was fantastic! The tour guide, ViVi, was very thoughtful. From the start of the tour, she clearly informed us of the meeting point, license plate number, and time, so we didn't have to worry about not finding the bus at all. She also led us to the boarding point along the way, providing very attentive service. The overall time arrangement was just right, not too rushed and not boring. The itinerary was very smooth, making it a comfortable and relaxing Nara Onsen trip. Highly recommended!

A few days ago, I was in Tokyo waiting for clear weather to go to Mount Fuji and Kamakura. I didn't arrive in Osaka until the evening of the fourth day by Shinkansen. I'm going back to my country the day after tomorrow, but luckily I found this tour group, and I was able to visit all the attractions in Nara and Kyoto in one day (although it was a bit rushed). At least I have no regrets!

A trip worth taking. Good weather makes everything better. The deer aren't too aggressive, and Kofuku-ji Temple is worth the admission fee to visit.

As a sacred space in Shinto belief, the forest invites you to explore its untouched beauty and experience the profound peace that comes from being surrounded by nature's timeless splendor.

Cultural Significance

Kasuga Taisha, established in 768 AD, stands as a beacon of Japanese Shinto culture. As the ancestral shrine of the influential Fujiwara clan, it has long been a site of imperial patronage and religious syncretism. The shrine's architecture, particularly the Kasuga-zukuri style, beautifully reflects its historical and cultural importance. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich spiritual traditions of Japan, as the shrine's deities play a pivotal role in Japanese mythology.

Historical Legacy

The history of Kasuga Taisha is deeply intertwined with the powerful Fujiwara clan and the Heian period. A unique tradition of the shrine is its rebuilding every 20 years, known as shikinen zōtai, which preserves its divine prestige and historical authenticity. This meticulous reconstruction ensures that the shrine remains a living testament to traditional architectural techniques and the spiritual purity of the site.

Festivals and Events

Experience the vibrant Kasuga Matsuri in March, where traditional dances and a sacred horse parade bring the shrine to life. The Setsubun Mantoro and Chugen Mantoro festivals are particularly enchanting, as thousands of lanterns illuminate the shrine, creating a magical atmosphere that captivates all who visit.

Cultural and Historical Significance

Founded in 768, Kasuga Taisha has been a central spiritual site in Nara for centuries. Its buildings are meticulously rebuilt every 20 years, preserving traditional architectural techniques and maintaining the shrine's purity. The shrine's four main shrines, designated as national treasures, each honor a different deity, reflecting the deep spiritual roots of the area.

Lantern Lighting Events

Kasuga Taisha hosts enchanting lantern lighting events on February 3rd and August 14th-15th. During these occasions, the shrine is illuminated by thousands of lanterns, creating a magical and ethereal atmosphere that captivates visitors.

Natural Heritage

The shrine is enveloped by the Kasugayama Primeval Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This untouched natural sanctuary has been preserved since the Nara period, offering a tranquil backdrop to the spiritual experience at Kasuga Taisha.
