Things to do in Ijen

A breathtaking adventure, was apprehensive about the fog but it cleared in time for some stunning views of Mt Bromo and surrounding volcanoes. would highly recommend!

Overall, the tour was very enjoyable and I truly had a great time. From the beginning of the journey until the last trip, everything went smoothly. The accommodation was very comfortable and perfect for resting before continuing the journey.The guide and driver were also very helpful and supportive throughout the trip.

Very glad I chose this itinerary, the same car and driver for four days and three nights, we thought it was great!! The tour guides at the attractions we encountered were also very good, highly recommended overall!!

Traveling solo feels like a private tour because the guide is extremely attentive. He constantly reminds us of and confirms the next steps. He communicates clearly in both Chinese and English, is polite, proactively and enthusiastically explains the local customs, and his photography skills are top-notch, comparable to a professional photographer. I recommend requesting this specific guide. The driver, Ah Han, is also responsible and polite, and is willing to assist and accommodate travelers' requests. The only thing to consider is that the scale of the Ijen volcano's blue fire is vastly different compared to 10 years ago. Now, each time it only burns about the area of a round table of sulfur. Dedicating a full day trip to Ijen now feels like there could be better itinerary options, such as snorkeling.

Our tour guide, Yanto, and his team was truly amazing. It was well organized and he truly helped me a lot throughout the hike. It is definitely no joke but we got to see the blue flames and he took awesome pictures for us. We can’t thank him enough for this awesome experience and couldn’t done it without him. if you’re doing one day, prepare for a long journey. it takes 3 hours to drive to the ferry, 1 hour ferry and then another hour to the location. you start hiking at 2am and we finished at 6am! it was really tiring but a good experience. I felt really humbled after seeing how hard the miners work!

We had an amazing time on this tour! Everything was organized so well, which allowed us to just enjoy the incredible scenery. From the smooth transport provided by our driver to our fantastic guide, we couldn't have asked for more. The people at Jamilah Homestay were so welcoming and made us feel right at home. Seeing Bromo, the waterfalls, and the Ijen crater was a dream come true. 10/10 would recommend this to anyone visiting Indonesia!

The 4-day, 3-night Tumpak Sewu Waterfall + Ijen Volcano tour was amazing! As a Chinese girl traveling alone with only average English skills, I didn't feel any pressure at all. The whole trip was comfortable and the scenery was stunning. Tumpak Sewu Waterfall was so beautiful it left me speechless! I must especially praise the guide who led the way to the waterfall. He was very gentlemanly and considerate, offering help on dangerous sections, and taking photos with great care. Every photo he took was amazing, making the experience even better. The other guides were also dutiful and completed the service according to the procedure, without any perfunctoriness. The accommodation was also very reliable, clean and tidy, so I felt completely at ease. A small incident: There was a confusion with the amount charged by the driver going to Ijen Volcano. He charged 80k Indonesian Rupiah but said it was a 35k medical examination fee, and also mistakenly calculated 50k as 5k. Later, I carefully checked it and got the money back. But the driver on the last leg of the journey was super heartwarming. Knowing that I was a foreign tourist with poor English, he specially got out of the car near the hotel to help confirm the specific store in the local language, and also took the initiative to help carry my luggage. He was so gentle and kind, I was instantly warmed! Overall, it was a very satisfactory trip. Most of the staff were reliable and the value for money was good. I recommend it to friends traveling alone. Just be sure to double-check the amount when paying to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.
