I was desperately searching for a tour for 1 person and I'm so glad I found this! I got Kaori as my tour guide and she was simply wonderful. She reached out to me right away and we started planning the itinerary together. She made sure to consider my needs and we spent a very interesting and great day together. Highly recommend this service - especially for solo travelers who would like to have a knowledgeable local accompany them on their trip.

There were only 2 of us but tour went ahead as plan. Koh was our guide and she did a great job! She was able to converse both in Chinese and English well, and we have a 3rd language hokkien too! She was able to plan the itineary well and we covered everything nicely. We get to see Tori gate during high tide and low tide as well, it was majestic and beautiful. We also hike up Mt Misen, I was huffing and puffing but she waited patiently and was encouraging as well. She is so fit and did not even break a sweat! Thank you Koh for such a wonderful experience and we learnt lots about Hiroshima from you.

Natsuko was the best guide ever, at the beginning we started fascinated with the beauty and the history of the Miyajima island, and then when we go to Hiroshima everything change and we got hit by the reality of that horrible situation, was heartbreaking. best guide and best activity to do in a whole day in Hiroshima

Miyajima Public Aquarium offers an elegant environment where you can get up close with penguins, enjoy spectacular sea lion shows, and see an oyster exhibit with local characteristics. It's very therapeutic!

Hiro, our tour guide was very sweet and informative! Our tour got upgraded to include lunch (Japanese pancake) for free due to logistical reasons. Hiro provided good information about the Atomic Dome, monuments in the area, and led at a good pace for adults with disabilities to keep up most of the time. Bring water as a token of remeberance. Bring tissues for the museum. Details are not spared. More time is needed on high traffic days. I was only able to get about half way through on a weekend before the time was up. The temple is MASSIVE (one floor, spread out over a wide area) and beautiful! We were there at low tide unfortunately so didn't get the iconic pictures of the tori gate. Lots of shopping in this area! I definately suggest the maple leaf snacks, I liked them all. I will need to come back and stay on the island at least 24hrs to see everything I wanted to see. Also... Deer! Not sure how I missed that, but they are there and friendly unless you have food they want.

Our guide, Aya, was enthusiastic and friendly, making the trip a lot of fun. We got to see Hiroshima from a local's perspective, which was very different from what we learned in history books. It was a truly unforgettable journey!

This trip was a wonderful experience. Angeles was an amazing & knowledgeable guide. She was able to switch between speaking Spanish & English with ease. I definitely learnt a lot from this tour and would highly recommend future tourists to experience a tour with Angeles as your guide. I am looking forward to my next tour with Angeles 🫡

Things to do at Miyajima Island

Itsukushima Shinto Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine is the star of Miyajima Island. It's famous for its floating torii gate, which looks like it's hovering above the water during high tide. While you're there, you can walk through the main shrine building, the purification hall, and the West and East corridors. Also, remember to pay respect to the three female gods the shrine honors.

Mount Misen

For amazing views of the Seto Inland Sea, you need to hike up Mount Misen. If you don't want to walk up the mountain, you can take the Miyajima Ropeway. Enjoy breathtaking sights and maybe even see some local wildlife along the trails. At the top, you'll find sacred places like the Reikado eternal flame, which people believe has been burning for 1,200 years.

Daisho-in Temple

Daisho-in Temple is a special place at the foot of Mount Misen on Miyajima Island. This temple is filled with interesting Buddhist statues, mandalas, and gardens. While you're there, don't miss the chance to join in a traditional tea ceremony.

Senjokaku (Toyokuni Shrine)

Senjokaku is a huge, unfinished wooden hall on Itsukushima Island. It's on a hill close to the famous Itsukushima Shrine and offers amazing views of the area. Even though it was never completed, the hall's wide open spaces and old history from the Edo period attract a lot of visitors. Nearby, you can also see a beautiful five-story pagoda, which shows off striking Japanese architecture.

Museum of History

The Museum of History is full of interesting artifacts and exhibits that explore the island's past. You can learn about Itsukushima Shrine's fascinating history and why it's a world heritage site. Its interactive displays and well-kept relics also let you know more about life during the late Heian period and how the island changed over the years.

Miyajima Aquarium

For a fun time, you have to check out the Miyajima Aquarium on Itsukushima Island. This place lets you explore the amazing marine life from the Seto Inland Sea and other areas. You can enjoy interactive exhibits with colorful fish, playful seals, and otters.
