Fantastic 5.0
This time, I chose to stay at the Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kamakura-Ofuna Higashiguchi, which is conveniently located near Ofuna Station. There are drugstores, restaurants, and supermarkets nearby, and the shopping mall integrated with the station is also great for browsing. The room was a bit small, but it had everything I needed. On the second floor, there's an ice machine, washing machine, and microwave. It was very convenient for my trip to see the hydrangeas in Kamakura and Kita-Kamakura, and to visit Enoshima.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel is within walking distance of Kamakura Station, and there are convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, making it very convenient. The hotel lobby and entrance are beautiful, and there's a green plant area that's beautifully lit at night, creating a lovely atmosphere. The room was very clean, giving off a great vacation vibe. The Muji breakfast was also excellent and delicious. This is definitely a place I'd want to stay at again.

More about Kamakura hotels

Staying in Kamakura: what to expect

Staying in Kamakura shows a modest spread between basic and premium options — the top rooms run about three times the price of the most affordable ones — so you can move from budget to splurge without wildly different choices. The best balance for most travellers is the standard tier, which typically delivers the most value for the price.

How hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy rooms sit at the bottom of the scale and are the most budget-friendly choice for travellers prioritising cost over extras. The standard tier is the sweet spot: a small step up in price but often the best value for travellers wanting comfort without a large premium. The biggest jump in cost comes when moving from standard to premium, marking the main decision point for whether to spend significantly more for upgraded rooms and experience. Premium rooms sit well above the others and suit travellers willing to pay extra for more space or higher-end finishes.

When travellers book and which months to target

For travellers planning a trip, rates are typically lowest in 6月 and highest in 7月, so a budget-led trip is best targeted in 6月 when prices fall notably below the priciest month. Rooms are usually reserved about 29 days ahead on average, so if you need specific dates or a particular room type, plan to book a few weeks in advance; very early bookings tend to happen around two months ahead.
