Fantastic 5.0
Easy to use, app is simple and provides good info on train routes etc. A bit pricey at first, but you if you don’t have definite plans and prebooked train tickets months before, will recommend getting this to avoid variable prices.

The BritRailPass is so worth it. Easy to activate and use the QR codes for each day. You can take your time and be assured that you can board the train at the time that you prefer. There are routes though that are really popular and crowded. Train fares are quite expensive if you buy them on the day itself so the flexibility helped a lot. We traveled around UK with our large luggages. just make sure to board the coach with the luggage compartment.

Fantastic 5.0
This is particularly good for travelling with elderly who are less able to walk. Our family were able to have a glimpse of the city without walking up and down the slopes. The staff are all helpful and friendly. Would be even better if we could see a clear display of the name of the stop we are at (like those you can see on the train).

The Hop-On Hop-Off bus is a fantastic way to see Edinburgh’s attractions. The commentary was informative, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The live tracking through the app was mostly accurate and overall, it was a convenient way to explore the city.

the tour started on time and gave a very good background of whisky. it ended with a short but sweet taste of a whisky of your choice. would recommend for whisky lovers— though it may leave you wanting to try more of the whisky kinds.

Fantastic 5.0
Our guide Jacqueline was very bubbly and fun. She made the long ride enjoyable. Actual fees for the distillery tour and tasting not part of the overall tour fee and paid directly to the distillery, so it was a good flexible option. Interesting and informative. Drives were long so the whole day will take you to only 2 distilleries with only short in-between stops for quick photo snaps of the views and lunch. Overall, the tour was relaxing and enjoyable for a beginners' guide to get a full view of the Scotch whisky experience, much better than any Scotch whisky experience just in Edinburgh. Worth going out of the city for.

What to know before visiting Edinburgh

Quick overview of City of Edinburgh and what to do

City of Edinburgh draws most bookings for Tours, Historical sites and Theme parks, with attraction passes and a few cruises also popular. Demand swings through the year: summer sees a big surge while late winter is much quieter, so the city moves between lively festival months and calmer periods.

Best months to visit and how prices move

According to Klook booking data, August is the peak month for demand while February is the quietest. Prices mostly stay steady through summer and autumn but spike in March, with July appearing as the typically cheapest month on Klook. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, aim for February or the quieter shoulder months; for the full peak-season atmosphere, plan for August. Note that demand and prices diverge around March when prices jump even though demand is not at its highest.

Tips for travellers

Most experiences in City of Edinburgh can be booked fairly close to travel, but travellers tend to book around 11 days ahead on average, so plan accordingly—especially if you travel in peak August when availability tightens. Klook’s listings cover the main tours and historical-site tickets, so use the platform to lock in popular experiences a few weeks before peak dates or just days ahead in quieter months.
