Fantastic 5.0
The driver was very nice. We didn't know we'd pass a huge torii gate along the way, and she specifically pointed it out to us. Luckily, we made a detour to take photos; otherwise, we would have almost missed an interesting sight! 😆

When we traveled to Kurashiki, we chose the yukata experience located above the convenience store. The staff were very friendly and helped us choose a suitable yukata style. You can also pay extra to have your hair styled. If you're visiting Kurashiki and want to feel like a local, you can try the yukata experience; you'll be able to take some beautiful photos! We even had foreign tourists take pictures with us, which was a special experience. It must have been because the kimono yukata were so beautiful! 😻

Fantastic 5.0
It was pouring rain that day, so we couldn't take a boat ride. Instead, we explored small shops in Kurashiki, ate snacks, made pancakes, enjoyed peach ice cream, had takoyaki, bought button hair accessories, visited the Momotaro Museum (old but funny), exchanged jelly, saw Snoopy and Miffy bread, found Sumikko Gurashi merchandise, browsed denim shops, explored free gardens, visited art museums, and had soba noodles for lunch. There was so much to do! We walked around in the rain from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. After lunch, we took the JR at 2:30 PM to Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden! It was a great walk, and the 'Sanpo-ken' (walking pass) was very useful. The three of us bought five passes to use. You can't reuse them at the same store, and each person needs their own pass. For 250 yen, we had a great time for most of the day. It was beautiful and there were great things to buy! Excellent!

Fantastic 5.0
Suitable for those who are brave and over 130 cm tall. There's bungee jumping (additional charge required) and a standing, extra-long roller coaster. The sky bicycle and Ferris wheel are must-try attractions. There's a bingo game at 1 PM, and a waterslide open in the summer. To get there, alight at JR Kojima Station and transfer to bus route S1 at stop #4. The staff are friendly, except for the male attendant at the coffee cup ride (due to a language barrier). Nearby, you can visit Jeans Street and enjoy the sunset at Washuzan.

Fantastic 5.0
The shop is not far from the riverside in Kurashiki, located on the second floor of a clothing store. The owner is very kind and attentive. Although she doesn't speak Chinese, we were able to communicate using Google Translate and simple English. All the kimonos in the shop are beautiful, and the owner's skillful hands can make your hairstyle look amazing. Considering the price and the results, I highly recommend it! It was very hot that day, and the owner thoughtfully lent us an umbrella, which we really appreciated.

Great 4.0
The exhibition primarily features optical illusions, and some of the displays are great for taking photos. Overall, it's more recommended for those with children. As people in our late thirties, we finished touring it quite quickly. Oh, and the staff were all very friendly and tourist-friendly!

What to know before visiting Kurashiki

Top experiences to try through the year

Kurashiki’s strongest bookings centre on Attraction passes and Theme parks, with Cultural experiences also popular — attraction-style visits dominate early- and mid-year and reach their busiest point in August. Demand dips around February, so the city feels quieter then, while late spring and summer see noticeably more activity.

Best activities for families, couples and solo travellers

Families will find Theme parks and Attraction passes an easy fit: both offer straightforward, family-friendly ways to pack a day with sights and entertainment. Couples often prefer Cultural experiences and the calmer side of Attraction passes for a more relaxed, locally flavoured outing. Solo travellers and small groups can choose between Museums for low-cost, flexible visits and Cultural experiences when they want something more immersive.

What travellers should book ahead

Plan with flexibility: most visitors book about three days ahead on average, though the earliest planners tend to secure bookings roughly twelve days out, and that matters most in August when demand peaks. If you travel in the peak month, consider locking in key tickets and popular experiences earlier than you would in the quieter months.

How categories compare on price and who they suit

Museums are the easiest, entry-level way in, typically the cheapest option and suited to budget-conscious or time-flexible visitors. Attraction passes and Theme parks sit above that entry level but remain mid-range and accessible to families and general-day visitors. Tours show the widest price spread and skew towards higher, more premium bookings, making them the best fit for travellers after something more curated or specialised.
