Good to know
Dear valued customer: Thank you for visiting “Kimono Roman”. To help you find our store easily, please note the following:
- Our store is located on the second floor, sharing an entrance with the first-floor shop.
- If the first-floor shop is closed, the lights might be off and a "Close" sign might be displayed. However, this does not affect your access to the second floor; the entrance door itself is usually open, so please feel free to push it open and enter.
- To the left of the entrance, there are clear signs:
- A large signboard
- Flags
- A mannequin wearing a kimono
- And a sign (in Japanese) that reads "Kimono Roman is Open"
- The sign also states in English: "Shop on 2nd floor, please come in."
- If you see no lights on the first floor, please do not assume the entire building is closed. Simply push open the entrance door and go up to the second floor. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at any time. We look forward to your visit!
Reviews
I had a wonderful kimono experience in Kurashiki! The staff was incredibly kind and patient, letting me try different options until I found the kimono I loved. The whole process felt very personal — from dressing in all the layers to choosing the bag and shoes. She also did my hair and used the kanzashi I had made earlier in my trip, which made it even more special. Afterwards, she took photos of me around Kurashiki. Even though it was the end of sakura season, the canal and streets were still beautiful. She gave helpful posing tips and encouraged my own ideas. Overall, a really warm and memorable experience. I was unsure at first how it would feel as a foreigner, but the reactions were very kind and positive. Highly recommend this Kimono experience if you're visiting Kurashiki.
The last boss Hongo san is very professional in designing my hair and was very patient when taking my photos. She did not mind helping to take as many as possible and has pretty good photography skills.
A very attentive store and service staff, every little detail is meticulous! They provide scarves for taking pictures in the cold weather, and they care about the feelings of every guest everywhere. 👍
What a wonderful experience, a profound exchange with the locals.
A friendly local shop run by the owner.
