tour was well organised. tour guide Mr. Guang was awesome. He was so energetic. we made delicious food.
first we had wander round busy morning food market in Hoi An with our guide Quan. then got a boat to the coconut grove area where we transferred direct into a bamboo round boat for a trip around the coconut trees. it was very peaceful and we didn’t seem to be amongst lots of tourists. the cooking class was great. four courses so make sure you don’t eat big hotel breakfast beforehand like we did! A taxi was organised for our return to our hotel. great value for money.
A great experience overall - includes tour of local market; boat tour and fishing; and the cooking class itself. Our guide explained most things however his English wasn't the best, and he seemed to become a bit impatient at times. Still a fun experience; recommended!
The pickup vehicle was waiting in front of the hotel right on schedule. After arriving at Hoi An Market, I met the local guide, listened to the explanation, and took a tour of the market. At first, I thought he was just a guide, but he was actually a chef who conducts cooking classes. It was somewhat disappointing that there was no explanation of the cooking ingredients while touring the market. When going to ride the basket boat, I boarded the boat and wore a life jacket for safety. The basket boat boatmen drove safely and made locusts and crowns out of coconut leaves in the middle, which doubled the fun and made me feel good. During the cooking class, he kindly explained things while mixing in Korean, so it was nice to be able to easily make Vietnamese food.
My partner who is a head chef in Australia and I booked this cooking class and had the most amazing time. Quan and his wife made us feel so welcomed and went above and beyond with their hospitality. This was hands down the best Vietnamese food we’ve had this whole trip. Fhe communication from booking up until they dropped us back to our hotel after the tour was professional and made it very easy. We will be telling all our friends and family to book this tour when they come to Hoi An. 10000% recommend!
it was truly enjoyable and the cooking class was superb.
In the afternoon, you will go directly to the pier to take a boat. It will take about 30 minutes and then transfer to a bamboo basket boat to watch traditional fishing and pass under the fishing nets (the fishing nets are elevated). Then we went fishing for crabs. The child was very happy to catch two crabs. The boatman woven some jewelry and headdresses from bamboo leaves for us, which is well worth a visit. Finally, we went to the cooking class. In the hot afternoon, we stayed in the cooking class and drank cold drinks. We spent the afternoon relaxing and had dinner cooked by ourselves. Everyone was very happy.
I joined this local activity with my family that included coconut boat ride and viet cooking class. The overall experience was memorable and interesting, especially the cooking experience with my family. They could help on arranging the car as we lived at Da Nang (not Hoi An), this is convenient for us. When we arrived the village, we walked on a bamboo made bridge, to the coconut boat. This is a bit unexpected, it would be better if the guide could explain this ahead. And the coconut boat ride, we have 4 people only, it was a bit boring, the staff hadn’t helped on photo taking and haven’t been chatted with us, as they cannot communicate in English. The fun part of the whole activity was the cooking class by Chef Lily. She is professional and very nice with smile. Well prepared everything and the process is amazing. Willing to help us to take photos, and explained the viet cooking style. And she chatted with us and let us know more about viet. I would recommend this tour.
it was a lovely experience but there was just something missing, most of the reviews talk about how great and informative the market section of the tour was but for us it didn’t feel very detailed or informative, we stopped at 2 shops and tried 3 fruits and some coconut chips and we were shown different coffees. The fishing part was maybe 2 minutes of time, you see a man on a boat throwing the net once and then you float away in the coconut boats, the best part was definately the cooking class, Lily was so informative and helpful and even gave us a cookbook as well as her number incase we needed any help when making the food at home!
Our instructor, Quan, was very attentive and patient. He didn't rush us while we were shopping in the market. The basket boat ride was fun, and Quan's humor during the class made for a relaxed and enjoyable cooking experience. The entire itinerary was very rich, and my friends who came with me were full of praise. I highly recommend this cooking class to anyone who wants to experience it in Hoi An.
