  • Mount Omuro: Take a cable car to the verdant summit, walk around the giant bowl-shaped crater, and enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the Izu Peninsula and Sagami Bay; the unique conical shape of Mount Omuro is considered one of the prototypes of "Lake Itomori" in Your Name.
  • Izu Cactus Zoo: This is not only a cactus garden, but also a paradise to get up close and personal with super-popular animals such as cute capybaras, lively meerkats, and leisurely red pandas; in certain seasons, be sure to see the world-famous "capybara bathing" spectacle, and be healed by the sight of them enjoying themselves
  • Izu Sea View Train: Take the unique "Resort 21" series of sightseeing trains, such as the Black Ship Train/Splendid Alfonsino, which have huge viewing windows, and some seats can even be rotated to face the sea directly.
  • The train speeds along the east coast of Izu, and the endless blue Pacific Ocean stretches out beyond the window, like a fantastic journey into a scene from Spirited Away.
  • Jogasaki Coast: Shaped by lava from the eruption of Mount Omuro thousands of years ago, the cliffs are steep, the rocks are jagged, and the waves are surging, full of natural and primitive power.
  • Kadowaki Suspension Bridge: Walking on the 48-meter-high Kadowaki Suspension Bridge, you can see the magnificent sight of waves crashing against the shore, and the howling sea breeze in your ears. The double shock of sight and hearing makes it an excellent photo spot.

Its unique conical shape is considered one of the prototypes for “Lake Itomori” in “Your Name.”, adding a romantic animated filter to the journey. Review for: Meet and depart from Tokyo Station.

I highly recommend booking a group tour for the Izu day trip; every attraction we visited was beautiful, and the experience was excellent. However, the weather is crucial. When I went, it was slightly overcast, so the sea captured from the sightseeing train wasn't as blue, but the scenery along the way was still lovely. My personal favorite was Mount Omuro; it was adorably green, like a matcha pudding. Even though it wasn't a perfectly sunny day, it didn't detract from my experience exploring Mount Omuro. The Cactus Park is diagonally opposite the base of Mount Omuro. Our driver mentioned we could allocate our own time to visit Mount Omuro and the park, but I chose to spend more time at Mount Omuro's attractions and didn't enter the park, so I can't comment on it. The driver arranged for this trip was very punctual and responsible. There were people of different nationalities in the car, and he introduced each attraction to us in both English and Chinese, with very clear directions. The seats in the car were clean and comfortable. Overall, the experience was quite good, so I recommend everyone choose this Izu day trip! I wish you all a pleasant journey and sunny weather!

This tour is mostly self-guided. The drive is about 2-3 hours each way, in a mini-van. You'll get amazing views of the sea and the seaside towns. As well as the chairlift up Mount Omuro and the Zoo. The Zoo is completely unique and I recommend spending less than an hour walking the mountain to spend more time at the zoo. It is a very large zoo and can be done in less than two hours, well worth the entrance fee. You get to feed the animals (capybara, peacocks, otters, penguins etc...). It was amazing how a lot of the animals are free roaming and its basically an open air play pen (mind the smell and watch for poop). He takes you early to the mountain because tourism crowds peak around noon. Overall it was an unforgettable experience. Also the tour guide doesnt wait for latecomers since he wants to get on the road to beat traffic, so please respect his time and everyone elses. Also bring lots of cash and 100 yen coins. They come in handy for the feedings.

Our driver and guide, Master Wang, was enthusiastic, talkative, and provided excellent service 👍👍👍. On the way there, you can sit in the front passenger seat by the window, and your phone can capture the beautiful scenery of the coastal road right outside the window. You can even hear the sound of the Pacific Ocean waves. For smokers, don't forget there's a designated smoking area across the road from the Omuroyama cable car queue (next to the entrance of the Animal and Botanical Garden Hotel). The Izu Peninsula has very hilly terrain, and many attractions are quite far from the train stations. If you don't want to take an expensive taxi (which might also be hard to find) or wait a long time for a bus, this kind of small group day tour is the perfect option!

Itinerary: Mount Omuro, train, coast. Time: Meet at 7:00 AM, return to Tokyo Marunouchi South Gate at 6:30 PM. Journey: There was some traffic on Saturday. We departed at 7:00 AM and arrived at 10:30 AM. We waited in line for about 15 minutes at Mount Omuro. After walking around and stopping, we didn't have time to eat udon noodles at the cafeteria. The train had seats facing the ocean, but the full ocean view didn't last very long. We spent about 35 minutes exploring the coast. Tour Guide/Driver: Master Long was enthusiastic, professional, and thoughtful. The day before, he helped everyone find the most convenient route in the group chat. He greeted us warmly first thing in the morning and provided detailed explanations for each location, including playtime, location, and important notes. He also thoughtfully considered various needs and always asked if anyone had other questions at the end of his explanations, assuring us we could ask him anytime. He delivered on this throughout the trip, making it a very comfortable day.

This package is a pretty long car ride about 2 to 3hr each way. David our driver was great and flexible. The cable car was down for maintenance which save 10 000 yen. I felt was better as we save $ and time so additional 1hr at the zoo. When you Visiting izu zoo, can see Mt. Omuro and was really beautiful. On a clear day, you can even catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji. At Izu Zoo, ticket cost about 28000 yen for weekend ticket. Overall facilities were lowly maintained and very smelly hence was a bit sad for some of the animals. The capybaras were incredibly adorable, especially when relaxing in their hot spring baths. The zoo also lets you get surprisingly close to many animals. The train ride does not guarantee you the seat facing the window hence need to be quick, the majestic view only appear near one stop hence camera need to be ready. The volcano bridge and sea views were nice but required walking on stoney staircase hence not suitable for people with leg injury.

We had a wonderful day thanks to our driver, Mr. Suzuki. Detailed information was sent the night before and on the day of the activity, and he was always quick to answer any questions, so we didn't have to worry about the itinerary. He was also a warm and thoughtful guide, providing concise introductions to the attractions, reminding us to enjoy the sparkling golden sunlight on the sea, and pointing out the peak of Mount Fuji from Mount Omuro. We smoothly boarded the scenic train (remember to get a left-side seat facing the ocean! It's well worth it). Mr. Suzuki's driving was very smooth, making the journey comfortable and relaxed. We could rest whenever we wanted, just like driving ourselves. If you enjoy a leisurely day exploring Mount Omuro and the beautiful Jogasaki Coast, this is a highly recommended tour.

Overall, it was a fantastic trip. The price and time commitment were similar to buying tickets and going to Izu on my own. If you're planning a day trip to Izu without an overnight stay, this is a great option. The weather was superb, and both Mount Omuro and Jogasaki Coast were incredibly beautiful. The capybaras at the zoo were adorable, and you could interact with them up close. The itinerary was well-planned, and we had plenty of time at each stop.

Because Izu is quite far from central Tokyo, choosing this package tour was a great decision. The driver, Seki, was very kind and contacted us in advance with meeting information. During the trip, he also recommended restaurants near the attractions. He drove very smoothly and managed the time perfectly, making the entire journey very pleasant. We arrived at Mount Omuro early for our first stop, so we didn't have to wait long, and the scenery was truly beautiful and highly recommended! Although we didn't get to ride a special train car in the afternoon, the coastal view was still stunning.

The tour was great and the stops were beautiful! Our driver, David, got us to our stops efficiently and was very good at communicating info about the itinerary in English and Chinese. Once you get to the stops, you get to explore on your own and your driver will tell you when to be back at the van. I particularly liked this tour because it gave enough time to visit both Mt. Omoru and the Izu Shobten Zoo. Most other tours made you choose between the two but I really wanted to do both so this tour was perfect!

Good to know

During the Obon Festival from August 8th to August 16th, traffic jams and cable car queues will be severe. It may not be possible to visit both Mount Omuro and the zoo at the same time. Your understanding is appreciated.
