Kamikochi is located in the Chubu Sangaku National Park and is known as Japan’s “most sacred mountain scenic spot.” The Azusa River is as clear as jade, with the Kappa Bridge spanning it, and behind it is the majestic figure of the Hodaka mountain range - this scene is the picture frame in the minds of many outdoor enthusiasts. Kappa Bridge → Azusagawa Promenade Flat and easy to walk, with the sound of running water, suitable for first-time visitors. Kappa Bridge → Myojin Pond (2 hours) A more in-depth, quiet and beautiful forest trail, suitable for travelers who like to explore nature.
Kurobe Tateyama Alpine Route (Ogizawa → Tateyama) ① Electric Bus (Ogizawa → Kurobe Dam) Before entering the Kurobe Dam, you will pass through a long mountain tunnel, which is an engineering miracle that was built to construct the dam. ② Kurobe Dam: A stunning mountain giant Japan’s largest arch dam, standing on the top of the dam, you can feel the interweaving of nature and human engineering power. ③ Cable car (Kurobedaira → Daikanbo) A cable car with no support tower throughout the entire journey will take you to a cloud-top perspective, overlooking the rolling valleys and lakes. ④ Aerial Tramway (Daikanbo → Murodo) The ropeway rises along the ridge, and the field of vision suddenly widens, you can see: the majestic Tateyama mountain range ⑤ Highland Bus (Murodo → Bijodaira → Tateyama) Passing through the Murodo crater and highland wetlands, the sounds of birds, wind, ice, snow and fog are intertwined, making it the most natural and wild section of the entire route.

Reviews
Our tour guide was very experienced. Unlike other tour groups, the first day's itinerary didn't involve dropping us off and picking us up at the same spot. This time, they dropped us off at point A and picked us up at point B, allowing us to explore Kamikochi at our own pace with less pressure. They also thoughtfully advised us to bring our own lunch, as the local queues were long and prices weren't reasonable. This saved us a lot of time, letting us enjoy the sights without waiting in line. The second day's itinerary was also well-planned, and they informed us in advance which seats would offer the best views during our journey. Both days went very smoothly. We hope to have the opportunity to have tour guide Tao Jing lead other tours for us again.
I am very grateful to our tour guide Mr. Liu Zhigang, the handsome driver and the amazing travel companions. During the 3-day and 2-night trip, I was able to see Mount Fuji, take 6 different types of transportation in Kurobe Tateyama, appreciate the Alps, and see the unexpected cherry blossoms before going to Kamikochi. Mr. Liu's explanation of Japanese history and culture was unforgettable. It is recommended to buy travel itineraries on klook when traveling to Japan, and match them with JDT, great 👍!
It was great to complete two main itineraries at once. With a tour guide, there's no need to search for activities; just show up on time. I highly recommend this.
It was an amazing tour. Language - the tour is NOT in english and in mainly CHINESE language. As we are the only tourist that cam speak english, we are assigned a special tour guide who can interpret to us , her name is Angel. I hope next time, pls include the 10940 yen entrance fee to kurobe since this is the itinerary of the tour.
it was a good experience to go to snow wall mountain. the bus was smaller than expected so it wasn’t a lot of space. but overall it was great.
Our group (4 adults, 3 children) participated in a tour led by Tour Guide Hua on April 28th, and we had a wonderful experience. Tour Guide Hua was very attentive and took care of every group member. The accommodation at Hakuba Sun Valley Hotel was also excellent. We arrived in Ogizawa around 8 AM, and the weather was good all the way towards Tateyama. However, it started to turn cloudy and snow lightly on the mountain after noon. There are public snow boots and crampons available in the indoor-to-outdoor corridor at Murodo; we recommend grabbing them if you plan to walk on the ice!

Personally, I found this trip to be worthwhile. My only complaint is that I requested an English-speaking guide but received a Chinese-speaking guide who couldn't speak English.
The view is breathtaking! Definitely worth a visit and the experince is amazing. Different modes of transport during the alpine trip and no delays throughout! The tour guide is friendly and helpful! 陶导一级棒!!
Our guide, Tao, was very attentive to the group and provided extremely detailed explanations. Although it rained in the highlands during this trip, we did encounter snow, which added a unique charm. The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a rare reverse-route tour on the itinerary, went very smoothly and was a complete success.
Good to know
The temperature in the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route area is low (possibly near 0°C), so it is recommended to bring warm clothing such as windproof jackets, gloves, and hats. There is a lot of walking in Kamikochi and the old streets of Takayama, so we recommend wearing comfortable, non-slip shoes to enjoy a relaxing trip! Kurobe Tateyama cable car fees, Takayama morning market, some small shops only accept cash payments, it is recommended to carry Japanese yen. Each person is limited to 1 piece of luggage under 28 inches. If you have special needs, please contact customer service or make a note when placing your order.
