What to expect
Meiji Shrine, located in a lush forest, is the most visited shrine in Japan. On this small-group tour of up to 10 people, a local guide explains Shinto and the Japanese Imperial system. Experience the calm heart of Japanese tradition.
Meiji Shrine offers a stunning natural escape in the heart of the city, surrounded by approximately 100,000 trees. As you walk along the shaded path, listening to birdsong, you’ll encounter Japan’s largest wooden torii gate. Crafted from a 1,500-year-old Taiwanese cypress, this towering 12-meter structure leaves visitors awestruck with its powerful presence. When passing through the torii, it’s customary to walk along the edges of the path to avoid the sacred central route, known as seichu, reserved for deities.

Reviews
Yuuki A was an amazing guide, he taught me about the proper custom to bow before entering each gate of the shrine as well as learning about way to properly pray. As well as how the shrine began to be and how the forest surrounding the shrine was all planted. It was only me, so he was able to show me Takeshita Street as well.
Our guide Yuuki was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and also very considerate. Would definitely recommend tour.
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish! Everything was well organized, Airi were friendly and welcoming, and the activity was both fun and memorable. It was clear that a lot of thought went into creating a great experience for guests. We would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area and would happily do it again!
The tour was awesome! Nono was great, very thorough with the details and explanation about Meiji Shrine. Highly recommend, thank you Nono!
I had a great time with Nanami. She gave me a sneak peak to the Japanese Culture. 2 hours well spent. She is very kind and great at what she does ☺️Would recommend this to all tourists who have some time on their hands
We joined Nonoka for the 9am tour, which ended up being a private tour! She was so friendly, fun, and a great guide! (She also has a beautiful singing voice!) We loved getting to learn about the shrine and Japan’s imperial history. And for such a reasonable price, I don’t think we could have gotten the same intimate tour experience with another group!
Our family had such a lovely tour through Meiji Shine and the gardens with Keiko and Yuki. We learnt so much more about the history and culture then if we'd just walked though ourselves! Highly recommend booking this tour!
on 20/9 in the morning we had a private tour with NONO, she was lovely and kind. it was our first day in japan and it was the best! so many stories and new knowledge for us. NONO is the best.
