An absolute must-see – the Railway Museum in Saitama! Anyone with even a spark of enthusiasm for trains will love this museum. Across more than 9,000 square meters, you can delve deep into the history of Japanese railways – with real locomotives, interactive exhibits, and impressive technical experiences. (Sumikai) Over 36 faithfully reproduced vehicles are on display, and thanks to light, music, and video effects, even stationary trains come to life. (ANA) The absolute highlight for me was the ride on the small mini-train – in that moment, you completely forget your age and become a child again. That smile won't disappear anytime soon! The museum is easily accessible from Ōmiya Station with the "New Shuttle" – the journey itself sets the mood for the adventure. Very nice, my child had a lot of fun. All the models and extras in the museum are very good. The terrace and restaurant are very complete, not to mention the souvenir and gachapon shop, as well as your commemorative goshuin with the stamp of the visit day.

Highly recommended! It's affordable and fun! I suggest eating at the bento shop on the first floor outside; their bento boxes look nicer. We went up to the fourth floor only to find there were no Shinkansen bentos, but we were too tired and lazy to walk back down 🥲. Also, remember to bring your own Shinkansen toy train to play with!!! Otherwise, you'll end up like my son, crying to buy a train to play with... They do sell them there, but you'll need a screwdriver and batteries! Before entering, you need to download the app to enter a lottery for play eligibility. Since my child is very young, and many activities are only for elementary school students, I didn't download it. This time, we planned to take the Shinkansen to the Railway Museum. If your child also loves it, you can take a non-reserved Shinkansen seat to Omiya and then transfer to the New Shuttle. It costs around $288 from Ueno and $350 from Tokyo! You can't take photos while riding the mini-train; the staff will prohibit it 🚫. Because I don't understand Japanese, the first time I thought she wanted me to put my bag in the locker. I picked it up, and the second time I was prohibited, I finally understood 🤣. Entrada sin complicaciones. Solo escanee y entre. Un lugar de visita obligada para cualquier persona interesada en trenes, o que simplemente quiera entender cómo funciona Japan Railway. La mayoría de los letreros están en japonés con algunas traducciones al inglés.

Amazing museum! The place is huge with everything you would want to know about Japanese train history. There are lots of things for children to do as well. There are restaurants, exhibits, simulators, and a gift shop. Easy train ride from anywhere in Tokyo. A must-see!

My experience exceeded my expectations. I never thought it would be so much fun. There are a lot of interactive activities, though most of them are through raffles. So you have to download their app beforehand, enter the raffle, and hope to win. I was lucky enough to be accepted into two of them: Miniature Train Driving and the D51 Simulator. The D51 Simulator is the best among them. It's so much fun. It really feels like driving a train, with all the parts you have to remember. Also, learning the history and seeing the model trains from the past to the present makes me realize that the human mind is truly amazing.

Easy entry through a long counter on the right by scanning the Klook voucher to the staff. Arrived around 1 PM on Saturday, and all self-driving train tickets were sold out! You need to download an app to secure your time slot. I'll be back earlier next time! Take note of the rotating train platform show at 12 PM and 3 PM, which includes a long train horn. This train museum is a must-visit!
