The admission fee is NT$150 per person, which can be redeemed for designated items within the park, increasing the value for money of your trip. The park also features tea art and tea set displays, offering enjoyment whether you're admiring, purchasing, or experiencing the making process. Shuili Snake Kiln Ceramics Cultural Park in Nantou is a popular attraction that combines history, culture, and leisure. There's a parking lot outside the park, costing NT$50. After parking, it's about a 400-meter uphill walk along the Snake Kiln Plank Road to reach the ticket booth. Surrounded by lush greenery along the way, it's a refreshing experience. Upon entering the park, the antique buildings and verdant environment complement each other, making you feel as if you've stepped into a nostalgic town, immersing you in a rich ceramic art culture. The park preserves Taiwan's historic snake kiln, allowing visitors to experience the charm of ceramic art culture up close and wander through the nostalgic buildings, as if traveling back to the kiln era. Visiting during autumn and winter offers a cool and pleasant climate, coupled with the park's leisurely atmosphere, exuding an indescribable sense of relaxation and ease. The park features a multi-functional composite kiln, providing an in-depth ceramic art cultural experience. Visitors can also participate in ceramic DIY workshops to create their own pottery. Notably, kimono and Hanfu experiences are available, allowing visitors to blend into the park's nostalgic ambiance, adding fun and unique memories to their trip. The Tutu Dessert Shop within the park is also a great place to relax, offering various desserts and drinks. Enjoying delicious food while taking photos creates wonderful memories. Shuili Snake Kiln Ceramics Cultural Park perfectly combines culture and leisure, making it an ideal destination for families or friends. Whether you're exploring ceramic art culture or simply relaxing, it's definitely worth a visit!
It takes about 3 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the park entrance. At the ticket office, present your online purchased ticket (online 120 NTD, on-site 150 NTD). The counter will give you a ceramic necklace as a park entry souvenir. The ticket includes discount coupons, each offering a 20 NTD discount for four items: purchasing pottery, dining at the restaurant, eating desserts, and pottery DIY. Mosquito repellent is available on the left side of the entrance; please don't be lazy, use it! There are too many mosquitoes inside. Upon entering the park, I immediately headed to my favorite pottery experience area. I chose wheel throwing, which is priced by material cost. One block of clay costs 380 NTD (a 20 NTD discount coupon can be used). There's no limit on the number of items, and shipping to one address costs 150 NTD, so it's more cost-effective for a group of friends to ship to a single address. I was very lucky to have a male teacher with long hair guide us. The teacher was very meticulous and patient, providing one-on-one assistance for our experience. First, he understood what we wanted to make (bowls, plates, vases, planters, etc.), then he taught us step-by-step with finger techniques. The experience was quick, lasting only 3-5 minutes, and I absolutely loved the results. The pieces made with the teacher's guidance looked very professional! I truly commend the male teacher with long hair; compared to other groups' experiences, this teacher was particularly friendly, allowing us to fully enjoy the fun of the experience! The "Tutu Shop" dessert shop is an Instagrammable spot where you can rest when you're tired of walking around. The second floor offers Hanfu and kimono rental services, which require advance reservations. Please do not go directly to the second floor without a reservation. The pottery experience alone made my evaluation of this park incredibly high. I will definitely go back to make pottery again next time; it's so much fun!
2023.10.20 Tickets need to be purchased at the entrance and then redeemed; discount coupons can be used. DIY activities do not require reservations but incur an additional fee, and shipping costs are extra. The experience is very enjoyable, and you can discuss your desired style with the instructor (there are finished products on display for reference). The dessert shop offers delicious food. Hanfu experience on the second floor requires online reservation in advance and an additional charge. There are many scenic spots in the park for taking beautiful photos, making it worth a visit. The restrooms are very clean.
The journey there is convenient with not too many mountain roads, and the parking area is spacious. It takes about five minutes to walk to the Snake Kiln, all on gentle slopes, so it's accessible even for those with mobility issues. The guides are very detailed, and the pottery teachers are super professional. The only downside is the excessive number of mosquitoes.
The park isn't very big, but it's charmingly antique. It introduces the origin and culture of snake kilns, and also offers pottery and Hanfu experiences. It's actually quite similar to Yingge Old Street 😅. The entrance fee can be partially redeemed for purchases. There are delicious desserts and "eating dirt" soft-serve ice cream 🍦. It's a relaxing cultural and pottery-making itinerary.
Although this park is not large, it offers a fantastic experience. It's highly recommended for anyone interested in pottery! You can also buy some pottery products inside the park, and there are some meals and ice cream available.
The guide was very attentive, and the pottery-making instructor was patient and humorous. One piece of clay can be shared by two people, making the experience feel like a perfect value. The "Tuhao" ice cream inside was also quite extravagant, haha. Discount coupons are available for use.
When you come to Shuili, don't miss Shuili Snake Kiln. Besides experiencing pottery throwing and sculpting, there's also the Tutu Dessert Shop. Their desserts are of a very high standard, comparable to famous dessert shops like La Pâtisserie. If you have time, why not stop by and take a seat!
