⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Bongawan River Cruise, Sabah Amazing experience from start to finish. We were lucky enough to spot both long-nosed monkeys and long-tailed monkeys along the river, which made the cruise even more exciting 🐒🌿 The scenery was beautiful throughout the journey, especially the beach stop with its peaceful, open views. The sunset was absolutely stunning, with the sky turning golden over the river 🌅 The highlight for me was definitely the fireflies at night. The mangroves lit up like a dream, and one firefly even landed on my hand — such a magical moment ✨ Big shoutout to our guides Gary, Edward, and Kevin for being friendly, helpful, and making the whole trip smooth and enjoyable. If you’re in Sabah, this is definitely a must-do activity. Relaxing, beautiful, and unforgettable.

My 6-year-old child absolutely loved seeing various wildlife up close, including monitor lizards, long-tailed monkeys, and fireflies, while cruising through the mangrove forest by boat. It seemed like an unforgettable experience for my child to encounter animals they had only seen in books or videos right before their eyes. Above all, the sunset was truly spectacular. The sunset painting the sky over the mangroves was a once-in-a-lifetime view. Thanks to our guide, Kelvin, who took so many excellent photos, we even got some amazing shots. It was especially touching that our family was the only Koreans that day, so Kelvin was able to give us more personalized attention, kindly explaining everything in detail. I was also very grateful that he pointed out animals every time they appeared so we wouldn't miss them, and explained things at a level appropriate for a child. I highly recommend this experience to families traveling with children who want to enjoy nature. I strongly suggest going during sunset, and if possible, book with Kelvin as your guide!

Guide Kelvin was very friendly and informative! Overall really enjoyed the trip, saw many wildlife, dinner was great, and Kelvin took amazing sunset photos for us! But please put on LOTS of insect repellent at the beach after the sunset, cuz the mosquitoes are RELENTLESS when seeing the fireflies!

This trip was definitely my highlight of 6-day vacation in KK. The trip was well organized, with great itinerary and service from all the crew. We were being picked up on time at our hotel in KK by Jordan who drove smoothly and very kind. There were some selections of beverages for high tea (cold water, juice, coffee), also mung bean porridge and banana fritters, which were really good. During the cruise, we saw the proboscis monkeys, long tail, monitor lizard, and crocodile. Our guide, Garry was funny, knowledgeable, and was great in explaining about the animals & surrounding areas. We got back to the Jetty for early dinner with Malaysian cuisine buffet & it tasted delicious. Then we countinued the cruise to the mirror beach and took some pictures. On the way back, we got to see a lot of fireflies on the trees and Garry and the crew were good on inviting them to fly around us on the boat. Jordan then drove us back safely and comfortably to KK. Overall this tour is highly recommended!

The river cruise was very nice and we were lucky to see a few proboscis monkeys resting on the tree. There was also a very cute cat at the tour base and the food was simple and nice. Our tour guide, Jordan, is also very knowledgeable, took care of the whole tour group and helped us to take nice pictures. The sunset at the beach was very scenic and looked different every minute. There was also a lot of fireflies in the evening and the whole tour was enjoyable.

Every detail of this tour is perfectly planned and organised, from time keeping to clean vans and boats. Special shout out to Kelvin our English tour guide, not only has he done in-depth research on the long nosed monkey, he is an expert photographer with a very good sense of humor despite having a mixed crew of Koreans, Japanese and Europeans. The groups are not too big so everyone has a good viewing of the animal life and mangroves, we were very lucky to see crocodile, monitor lizards, long tailed monkeys and a group of the long nosed monkey but from a distance. The Jetty is impeccably clean and the dinner and snacks was homemade, clean & many good options. The sunset is spectacular & the firefly show along with Kelvin and his guide Gary’s talent at attracting them into the boat was natures own magic show (pls tip Kelvin, the captain & boat helper at the end of the trip). Highly recommend this tour, and a big THANK YOU to Kelvin and team for making this the best day trip of KK.

Excellent tour! We were guided by Kelvin who was very informative and helpful. Communication pre-tour and pick up/drop-off were seamless. Thankfully we were able to see families of both the proboscis monkey and long-tailed macaque on our trip today (however, these sightings cannot be guaranteed as these are wild animals). The Borneo sunset is stunning and the sky mirror effect photos are a must. Food and drink provided were simple but delicious. Would highly recommend this tour.

The journey today was very pleasant. The tour guide, Jordan, was conscientious and took good care of everyone. His explanations were very detailed and professional. There was no need to worry about language issues. The photography skills were superb and the photo quality was very high! We were very lucky to see the beautiful sunset, the "Christmas tree" of fireflies, and also witnessed the friendship between the lizard and the dog. This was an extremely unforgettable trip!

On Christmas Eve, with lovely weather, we were lucky enough to see everything except one type of monkey. The guides were very helpful and made the whole tour more memorable. We didn't expect much from the Malaysian-style dinner, which was eaten at 4:30 PM, LOL!
