Tour pela Gruta Jomblang e pelo Templo de Prambanan

The Jomblang and Bunung Panang caves in Yogyakarta were very mystical and left a deep impression on my heart. As I went deeper into the cave, I was enveloped in silence, and overwhelmed by the beauty of the stalactites that nature had created over a long period of time. The moment the light shone through and illuminated the rocks was fantastic, and it felt as if I had wandered into another world. Rather than just sightseeing, it was an experience of quietly confronting the greatness of nature, and the lingering feeling did not disappear even after visiting.

The day trip was very well curated! Our Mandarin guide was absolutely knowledgeable and fun too! Jomblang cave is a highlight! It consists of a descent of approximately 60m, then a short walk in the cave to the heavenly rays at the end of it. A beautiful site that makes the experience awe-inspiring. Prambanan temple is well guided, making history and culture interesting!

This was awesome. We came to Yogyakarta because we wanted to visit Jomblang Cave. All of our friends and myself had an amazing experience on this trip. All the team members who assisted us were very helpful, and they had proper safety SOPs which they followed strictly. We wanted to praise the whole team for their effort. It was an amazing experience, our group of 4 persons loved both the Jomblang cave and the Prambanan temple. At Jomblang cave the helmet is indeed very smelly and the boots may be a little bit wet (make sure to bring extra socks/clothes/shower cap), but the experience is definitely worth it, the cave is a miracle of nature, going down with the ropes felt safe even for those of us who were afraid of heights, the staff is very nice, our cave guide took some of the best pictures of us inside the cave, lunch box is good. The Prambanan temple is very beautiful and I warmly recommend to take a guide when you arrive there, our guide was very nice, funny, gave us a lot of information and showed us the best spots to take pictures; there is an official desk at the entrance where you can find a guide (it had cost us 150.000IDR for a group of 4 persons). Finally, using Klook is very easy and safe, with really good prices for what they offer. Our driver Sugiarto was the best. He was our driver for 3 days in a row, punctual every day, polite, kind, helpful, he took care of us throughout the whole experience in Yogyakarta and made us feel safe, recommended good places to eat, took photos of us. I truly recommend Klook app and Sugiarto!

Dana Muhammad is attentive and very patient, with excellent English fluency and commendable cultural knowledge. The time management was also perfect. This tour is highly recommended. I believe this itinerary is the most essential experience in all of Yogyakarta. Such a vertical cave is very rare, and the safety measures are excellent; this level of standard is truly uncommon. Prambanan, of course, goes without saying; its unique cluster of buildings is a must-visit.

The tour guide is a local Indonesian, super nice, explains everything thoroughly, and is warm and understanding. The itinerary is excellent, a pure sightseeing tour, very enjoyable.

Aryo, o motorista que me foi atribuído pela Klook, confirmou a minha excursão por mensagem no dia anterior. Ele foi pontual para a recolha e levou-me à gruta de Jomblang. Lendo as críticas de outras pessoas, estava bem preparado. Leve um par de meias compridas, uma touca de banho e use calções. Se quiser tomar banho mais tarde, há chuveiros disponíveis, por isso leve roupa sobressalente. É altamente recomendado, a menos que queira ficar sujo. Pode levar a sua mochila, mas não muito pesada. Leve uma lanterna se quiser, pois o caminho na gruta é escuro. Tivemos de esperar uma hora antes do início da visita à gruta. O bom da espera é que consegui secar as minhas botas molhadas que acabara de receber e não sei quantas pessoas as tinham usado, daí as meias. Enquanto esperávamos, foram servidas bebidas. Quando a visita começou, foram-nos dados números de fila e tivemos de esperar que os nossos números fossem descidos em pares, manualmente pelos funcionários. A descida foi de cerca de 60m, demorando cerca de 30 segundos. Se estiver preocupado com a segurança, cada par está preso a 2 linhas diferentes, uma à frente e outra atrás, é bastante seguro (da minha perspetiva). Uma vez lá em baixo na gruta, temos de esperar que o nosso grupo se reúna para prosseguir mais 250m para dentro da gruta. A caminhada de 250m não é brincadeira, é escorregadia, lamacenta e pode ser íngreme por vezes. Por isso, não se apresse e leve o seu tempo. Escolhi ser o último da fila para que ninguém me apressasse, posso observar os meus passos seguindo as pessoas à minha frente e pode tirar todas as fotos que quiser mais tarde. Assim que chegar à abertura, é simplesmente uma das vistas mais bonitas que já vi. Por isso, ser o último da fila tem as suas vantagens, tirei todas as fotos que queria. Os funcionários guias também estão lá para o ajudar a tirar fotos e indicar-lhe os melhores locais, se não estiverem ocupados. Depois disso, basta voltar pelo caminho de onde veio e subir de volta à gruta. Os funcionários irão puxar manualmente a gruta. Lá, foi-nos dada uma das caixas de bento para o almoço. Depois, partimos para o templo de Prambanan. É cerca de 2 horas de carro. Lá, o motorista irá entregá-lo a um guia que o mostrará e contará a história do templo. Leve o seu tempo para tirar fotos, quando terminamos. Saímos. Pelo caminho, há um par de baloiços que recomendo vivamente que experimentem. Eles vão puxá-lo alguns metros acima do chão e tirar as suas fotos com o templo ao fundo. É deslumbrante. Cada pessoa paga 20k rupias, fotos ilimitadas usando a sua própria câmara. Recomendo vivamente a excursão.

Jomblang Cave exploration is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You don't need to exert any effort when descending into the cave; workers use a pulley system to lower us down and bring us back up. There was a photographer who took pictures of us during the descent, and we ended up buying two large photos for Rp50,000, which was a reasonable price. Once inside, you have to walk a distance to reach the "Heaven Light" spot. The path is muddy and very slippery, so wearing gloves allows you to steady yourself on rocks. Remember to also wear a headlamp for illumination. We encountered an aggressive snake midway, but fortunately, the staff used a stick to shoo it away. Upon reaching the destination, we learned that the Heaven Light isn't always visible; our driver told us it only appears around 11 AM. If you see it, take as many photos as possible because it disappears quickly. After the journey, our hands and feet were covered in mud, but there were facilities to wash our feet and change clothes. Lunch was a simple Indonesian bento box, which we ate in the car as we headed to Prambanan. The initial part of the road leaving the cave was very bumpy, but it improved once we reached the main road. Prambanan wasn't particularly special; it was just full of Hindu temples, some of which were in ruins. You wouldn't miss much if you didn't go! The helmets for the cave exploration smelled quite bad, so remember to wear a shower cap underneath!

Jomblang Cave gave me an amazing experience. The thrilling descent by rope into a 60-meter deep vertical cave, the magnificent and mysterious underground river beyond, and the beautiful sunlight streaming in—it's an absolute must-see. However, you'll have to wait about 1.5 hours one way for 30 to 40 people to move through the vertical shaft by rope. Also, the helmets provided are very sweaty. There's not much time to see Prambanan.

The price is a little bit expensive, but you get an experience that matches it. My driver, UDIK, explained the entire process in great detail. Although we arrived first, he arranged for us to be second in line for the descent, which helped ease any tension. He knew all the best photo spots and took excellent videos, allowing me to create wonderful memories. If you were to arrange the package yourself, the actual entrance fee for the cave is 500K and for the temple is 300K. Considering the guide and transportation fees, the Klook package seems to be quite reasonably priced.
