We only made it halfway to Tongpan before turning back because it was too hot. Hujing Island must be a sheep island, right? 😂 There were more sheep than cats on the island. Before coming this time, I specifically bought a lot of cat treats on the main island to pet cats, but there weren't many cats, and I don't know if they were all hiding because it was too hot.

The meeting point is opposite Pier 3. You can also browse some duty-free goods there. The boat captain was very kind and always told us how long we would be stopping. The cats on Hujing Cat Island are quite fierce and spoiled, while those on Tongpan are more natural and unspoiled. I really think you should feed the cats on Tongpan; they are super cute!

Tongpan Island is small, and you can walk to see the submarine volcano (Lotus Seat). Hujing Island is also called Cat Island. It is recommended to rent a scooter on the island for an additional fee. A rental form will be issued at the departure point (South Sea Visitor Center). Upon arrival at the island, follow the instructions to give it to the scooter rental company. Wild sheep can be seen everywhere on the island, and many cats are very friendly.

A very satisfying trip! One ticket allowed us to visit two islands (which are very close to each other). We saw the columnar basalt on Tongpan Island and the Tropic of Cancer, cats, and goats on Hujing Island. The boat operator allocated just the right amount of time for us on each island. I highly recommend the squid balls on Hujing Island!

A very worthwhile trip! Report to the Haian counter at the South China Sea Tourist Center at 13:40. First, head to Tongpan Island for an hour, then to Mao Island and Hujing Island for an hour and a half. Remember to rent a scooter for 150 (including fuel). The islands are incredibly beautiful, and every angle is perfect for photos – highly recommended! On the return journey, you can sit outside on the boat and enjoy the sea breeze, which is very comfortable.

Tongpan Island is covered with cacti, and its back is all columnar basalt. You can walk around the entire island during your stay. Hujing Island is larger, so renting a scooter is more convenient. On it, you'll find statues of Maitreya, Guanyin, and the 18 Arhats, as well as some popular photo spots like the Tropic of Cancer, and many cats. The squid balls on the island are larger and tastier than those on the main island.

Tongpan is a very tranquil island with few remaining residents. The must-see attraction on the island is the columnar basalt. Hujing is an outlying island with military personnel stationed there, so you'll see many soldiers. Life on the island moves at a very slow pace, making it perfect for an evening stroll to enjoy the sunset.

There's plenty of time for stops. You can walk around Tongpan Island, and rent a scooter on Hujing Island. If you forgot to add these options when booking the tour, you can still add them on-site at the same price. Overall, you'll need to set aside about half a day!

I personally don't think Tongpan Island is worth visiting. The restrooms aren't maintained, and you only get 30 minutes on shore. As for Hujing Island, the only things that currently appeal to me are the cats 🐱 and the shirtless soldiers running around. Everything else is just okay 😅 and it's hot.
