If you're in the area, this is a must-visit itinerary. The cave exploration allows us to delve deep inside to learn more about cave formation, limestones, and so on. We chose Stage 2 for a dry exploration, and you can opt for Stage 4 for a deeper and wet exploration. A special shout-out to our guide, Awa; she is very friendly, always reminding us to watch our steps, and she is very knowledgeable about the cave. You can feel her passion and heart for what she is doing. We had a great time with her as our guide, and we definitely enjoyed the entire time of exploration and learning. We might try Stage 4 next time.
YOU WON'T REGRET BOOKING THIS TRIP! We had the kindest and most polite tour guide Bob who took my husband and I and our 9 year old daughter through the caves ALL stages! it was absolutely exhilarating, exciting, wonderous and magical! There were parts we had to stop and Bob was great at keeping my daughter engaged! I still can't believe we did this! Bob was super knowledgeable, kept the pace going and kept us motivated and safe. Huge thanks Bob and Riverbug for memories we will treasure for a lifetime! Also the lunch provided by the river at the lodge was such a special touch and was so much appreciated!
I highly recommend this! It takes a total of 4 hours as you go through Stages 1 to 4 in one go, but it's an experience you can't have in Japan. First, you ascend 1000 steps up the cave stairs to Stage 2. You proceed slowly, with quizzes along the way like "What does this rock type or pattern look like?" I was surprised to see grass growing in such a dark cave, illuminated by the lighting fixtures. After completing Stage 2, you descend a locked staircase, put on a headlamp (available for rent for 5 RM), and begin an adventure walking on rocks. You navigate gravel paths, sandy paths, and between rocks, hearing the sound of water echoing in the distance. Where large rocks block the path, you crawl through the gaps underneath one by one, sometimes moving on all fours half-submerged in water, or in deeper water, pushing through in a low stance with the current, all with the help of the guide. The rented headlamp occasionally flickered, which made me anxious, but since we were a team of 6, I followed the footsteps of others. Once you start, you can't easily return to the surface, so children need a certain level of leg strength and patience (and a spirit for adventure!). It was a shame to see graffiti and trash inside the cave. This is something that can be said for Malaysia as a whole, and I think it should be improved. The lunch after the tour was truly delicious. I'm happy that RIVERBUG's food has a delicious seasoning that suits Japanese palates.
Tour guide Mr. Razi was indeed friendly and knowledgeable. The weather was great, and luckily, it was just the two of us plus the guide, so the pace was on time. The tour was quite challenging, especially stages 3 and 4. We started with stages 1 and 2, then proceeded to 4, and made a U-turn to stage 3. The tour was worth the money spent. After caving, we went back to Ulu River Lodge and had our provided lunch. Afterward, we went to the river to relax. Totally recommend.
We couldn't recommend this tour enough, the tour guide (Bob), communication and hospitality met our expectations. 10/10 highly recommended to anyone young and old.
The tour is so amazing! The tour guide is really friendly and constantly engaged with you, teaching you about the cave and showing us the adventurous routes.
Fantastisk opplevelse, vakker hule. Turlederen ga god innsikt om hulen. Overrasket over at denne pakken også inkluderte lunsj! Anbefales!
The trip was fantastic. Our tour guide, Mad, led us on routes that were challenging yet fun, with almost no other people, so it felt like we had the cave all to ourselves. We did the whole works – crawled, dipped in water, climbed uphill through rocks, etc. I would recommend anyone wanting to try this adventure to give it a go!
