I was so surprised by how beautiful the facility was! I was warmly welcomed with a lovely kimono, and I could truly feel their spirit of hospitality. Starting with the history of the tea ceremony and stories of the Maeda family's tea ceremonies at Kenrokuen, I received explanations of the etiquette and spirit of the tea ceremony, and then experienced a tea ceremony for the first time. After that, I also had the experience of preparing tea myself, and they kindly answered all my questions along the way. I had a very meaningful time. I wonder if there are many places like this nationwide where you can have such an experience? I recommend it not only to international visitors but also to many Japanese people who I believe should definitely try it.
We had a wonderful time at the tea ceremony hosted by a very professional woman. The ceremony was conducted in French, which was a real bonus. Everything was perfect; I highly recommend this activity during your stay in Kanazawa.
When we couldn't get into a tea ceremony in one of the original geisha houses, we booked this one at the gardens. Our instructor was perfect. Her English was spot on, she was able to crack jokes, witty and informative. The whole experience was marvelous. We went into a private tatami mat room, her and her assistant showed start to finish the tea ceremony process, then we got to try making matcha ourselves. At the end, we got a ¥500 discount on the tea ceremony sets for sale in the shop!
Japanese tea ceremonies are a fantastic experience with a lot of insight. Our guide was very friendly and made the atmosphere very inviting. Small snacks to complement the matcha were included. We also had the chance to make our own matcha, which was nice! I certainly recommend it to anyone in Kanazawa! Also, you must get admission to the garden for 350 yen before attending the ceremony, so make sure you give yourself enough time during the busy season.
amazing experience. Beautiful tearoom and our 2 hosts / tea masters made a relaxed and calming environment to experience the ceremony as well as a learning experience.
We loved the experience and learned a lot about tea and tea ceremonies. The sweets and matcha were delicious and the hosts were very knowledgeable and provided a lot of insights on Japanese tea culture and customs. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time at this tea ceremony in a quiet, traditional tea room. The hostess explained everything to us in a very understandable way, while a second person prepared the tea and demonstrated each step. Delicious Japanese sweets were served, and afterwards we were allowed to make our own matcha under guidance. Very warm, relaxed, and absolutely recommendable!
We had a wonderful time learning about the traditional tea ceremony! The instructor was knowledgeable and engaging, and answered all of our questions. The sweet treats were also a nice plus.
I was very pleasantly surprised, I can only recommend it! Nice atmosphere and nice hosts!
