Highly recommended to visit though it takes 8 hours to and fro from Paris. It takes around 2-3 hours to visit the whole place plus have a good lunch. Recommended to bring a jacket or windbreaker as it tends to be colder than Paris. Also comfortable footwear as there are stairs to climb. Boarded the bus around 715am (be there earlier as the queue is long and the bus seats are first come first served), and reach back Paris around 9pm. Given two stops (breakfast and dinner) along the way for about 25 mins each which was abit rush as the queues for toilets and food can be long. You get around 3-4 hours in the village which include lunch time.

Mont Saint-Michel, located very far from Paris, is convenient to visit by tour. The round trip takes about 4-5 hours by car, with a stop at a rest area where you can use the restroom and buy food. We arrived at Mont Saint-Michel around 12 PM and had to return to the parking lot for pickup at 4:15 PM. From the parking lot to Mont Saint-Michel, you need to take a shuttle bus. On the way back, there was a long queue, with buses arriving every 5 minutes. It's recommended to allow 20-30 minutes for queuing and waiting for the bus. The scenery at Mont Saint-Michel is incredibly beautiful, and the observation deck at the very top offers panoramic views. However, on the return journey, our tour bus broke down midway, and we had to wait in a park for the tour company to make arrangements. The tour company's arrangements were very poor; we waited a full 4 hours for another tour bus to pick us up and take us back to Paris. We didn't get back to Paris until 2:15 AM local time. Our request for a full refund ultimately resulted in only a small amount being returned. This was a very bad experience.

I visited Mont Saint-Michel on April 29, 2026. The one-way travel time was quite long, about 5 hours. Although the bus had a restroom, it couldn't actually be used, and there was a 30-minute restroom break along the way. However, the seats were quite narrow, and honestly, the long journey felt a bit tough. Nevertheless, the scenery upon arrival was breathtaking, and the splendor of Mont Saint-Michel itself made me forget the fatigue of the journey. My stay there was about 4 hours, but the interior of the building was much larger than I expected, with many sights to see, so I felt a little short on time. I recommend allowing ample time for visiting the abbey. Also, the famous omelet restaurant gets crowded, so it's best to visit early. Overall, the travel was challenging, but it's a tourist destination well worth the effort, and I felt very satisfied.

Le temps en Normandie est capricieux et il faisait maussade lors de notre visite. Néanmoins, le Mont Saint-Michel était magnifique et valait le détour. Bien que le trajet de 4 heures aller simple ait été long, le voyage était confortable avec une pause toilettes entre les deux. Les deux guides ont fourni d'excellentes informations et ont été très serviables. Le restaurant recommandé pour le déjeuner était également bon.

It was too far to go on my own, so I used a tour. The time spent at the destination was short (effectively 2 and a half hours), and I wished it could have been an hour to an hour and a half longer. However, given that we met at 6:45 AM and disbanded around 9:30 PM, I suppose that's to be expected. If I were to go on my own, I thought it would be nice to stay overnight and see the night scenery.

It's a very relaxing trip, and the monastery's admission ticket is well worth buying. The round trip by car takes 9 hours, so be prepared for that.

Le transport vers et depuis le Mont Saint-Michel était facile et très efficace. L'endroit ressemblait à Poudlard et nous avons reçu un billet coupe-file pour l'église. Cette visite n'inclut pas de guide touristique, mais nous avons reçu un lien audio. Préparez-vous à monter de nombreuses marches raides !

The group day tour was convenient for us to travel to Mont Saint-Michel, as it's difficult to get there without our own transport. The coach was comfortable, with stops along the way for restrooms and food. There was just enough time to tour the abbey and the small town, but since it's a day tour with five hours of travel to and from Paris, don't expect ample time to explore the entire area.
