The first thing I booked right after reserving my flight to Fukuoka was Kanpachi. All the single and double seats were already taken, so even though there were only two of us, I booked a three-person box seat. Personally, I'm not very good with Japanese food, so I received it without much expectation, thinking it was just a bento for my husband, but it was so delicious that I ate almost all of it... I finished it all, haha. It was snowing heavily that day, so the scenery from inside the train was also very beautiful. The seats were very comfortable too. It was also fun that the train stopped twice in the middle for local specialty product events. This time I rode Kanpachi, so next time I plan to use Ichiroku~~~
Klook and Google search didn't have answers. So I'm sharing with fellow travelers. You can't specify seats. Use the printed "Final Itinerary" to enter/exit the station by showing it to the ticket counter staff. On the train, you can bring large luggage, and the train has storage lockers. You can get off at Yufuin, but it only has stairs. No drinks were included with our tickets, only bento.
Fantastic experience. The six-person private room was beautiful. The scenery was picturesque. The food quality was high. There was a jam workshop to learn about local culture. Thumbs up 👍🏻 Seat reservation process: Excellent Price: Reasonable Redemption instructions: Clear
The train was beautiful, and the overall experience was fantastic! The weather on the day was superb, with sunlight streaming through the windows and filling every corner of the carriage. The onboard meals were meticulously and deliciously prepared using produce from various parts of Kyushu (thoughtfully accompanied by explanatory diagrams). Next to each seat on the train, there were artworks by different artists. Even if you couldn't visit every seat to admire them, you could understand the content of the works through the QR code links provided. This journey was filled with a profound sense of happiness.
The sightseeing train experience was excellent. It stopped at two stations along the way (Kappa Station, Era Station) for us to explore and take photos. On Wednesday, the meal served was a Michelin-starred bento box, which was very exquisite and delicious! It's truly worth taking this trip to Yufuin.
A very comfortable journey. The tatami compartment is perfect for family trips. The scenery along the way, the food, and the souvenirs are all exquisite. The stations where we stopped were also well worth getting off to explore. If I have the chance in the future, I would love to try other special trains!
The sofa is very comfortable, the train is gorgeous, and the staff is enthusiastic. There are nice stations With activities and things to see and buy, the meal was very classy and delicious.
The journey was very pleasant, and the bento box on the test drive was exquisite and delicious. The sightseeing bus had a refined design, the staff on board were friendly, and shopping at the midway stop was enjoyable.
The train was beautiful and the seats were very comfortable. Lunch was exquisite and unique, showing great care. Along the journey, there were several stops where passengers could alight and take photos on the platform as a souvenir.
The sightseeing train itself is well worth it; the scenery and food are quite good, and the seats are new and comfortable. Other than not being able to choose seats, I feel it's pretty much the same as booking directly on the official website. However, you might want to check the official website first to see which seats are available, as there might be cashback or credit card rewards here. You can evaluate this yourself before placing an order. Within a few days of booking here, you will receive a confirmation email containing a "final itinerary" file. On the day of travel, just bring that paper; there's no need to exchange tickets! Platform information is very hard to find; I personally didn't see it on any electronic display. The correct way is to directly show the "final itinerary" paper to the staff next to the gate on the day of travel. It's best to also show them the Japanese name or a photo of "Aru Ressha" (觀八十六), as they might take a long time to understand if you only show them English. Then, just ask them where the platform is; there's no need to go to the service center or anything, as those people won't know where the platform is. You can get off at Yufuin. The photo shows a four-person seat. For the green carriage, most of the scenery on the journey from Hakata to Beppu is on the side with the four-person seats. However, in terms of the experience, I think it's still worth trying even if you're not on that side.
