Excursão de um dia a Nuremberg saindo de Munique

The tour itself was nicely paced throughout the course of a full day. Spending the first half in the old medieval portion of Nuremberg you then have the second part of the tour focused on more recent WW2 events. While we had come for the more recent portion the first half was equally interesting. Our tour guide (Sabri) was very well informed, funny and kind - and even as a bit of a history buff I still felt like I learned loads. Transport throughout the day was seamlessly organized and simply something you don’t need to worry about. Bring snacks, refillable water bottles and your curiosity - you will leave more informed and also having got your steps in.

I originally booked a tour on June 22nd through Klook with RadiusTours, scheduled to meet at their office in the Central Station at 10:30 AM. This itinerary was quite strange, as it involved taking a train to Nuremberg. However, upon arriving at the meeting point at 10:00 AM on the 22nd, I was suddenly informed that the tour had been cancelled. I checked my email and saw that the cancellation notification was sent around 8:50 AM, stating that the train service had been cancelled. This left me feeling very confused and puzzled. I immediately asked the Radius Tours office if there would be another tour in a few days. They said there was another group departing on the 24th, two days later. When I asked how many people had signed up, they said 15, so I believed there was a good chance it would go ahead. The most convenient option for us was to decide that afternoon to join the tour on the 24th. If we hadn't been staying in Munich for too long, I don't think we would have been able to make it. To cut costs, they didn't take a direct train but instead used the cheapest type, which I'm not sure if it's called RE, requiring transfers. We spent a lot of time on the train and making connections because the schedule kept changing, which is typical of German trains. We wasted a lot of time on the train, and the departure time was too late, at 10:30 AM. By the time we arrived in Nuremberg city center, it was already afternoon, so we didn't have much time to explore. However, we did manage to visit the city center attractions and take some photos. The strangest thing is that I believe this was arranged by the travel agency, not the tour guide, as the guide himself had to walk a lot. The itinerary included spending an hour and a half at a place he called a 'Valley'. Since I wanted to spend more time in the city center, my partner went with them to the valley, only to find out it really wasn't worth the time. The valley area looked like a construction site with nothing to see. We also had to spend a lot of time taking public buses to get there and several S-Bahn stops to get back to the train station. It was very time-consuming and not worth it, and we walked a lot. I suggest that everyone just explore Nuremberg city center. However, because so much time was spent on the train, we still didn't have much time to walk around Nuremberg. I really don't understand why, on the tour departing on the 24th, there were 19 of us in total. I don't know why the travel agency is so frugal and tries to maximize profits by not arranging a tour bus to take us to the Nuremberg attractions. We searched on Google Maps and found that taking a tour bus would be faster than the train, because the train connections take longer. Taking the train was like taking a local train in Japan that stops at every station. Since it wasn't an ICE or express train, a lot of time was spent on transfers. On the way back, due to a cancelled service, the train we took took about three hours to get back to Munich Central Station. So, among the seven-day local tours I've taken, the transportation arrangement for this tour was the worst. And I feel that Radius travel agency not providing a tour bus is not very good. To save costs, they don't use a tour bus and driver; they just arrange for you to take the train and buy tickets for you, and not even express ones. This really shows the travel agency cutting costs and making things difficult for us customers.

Our guide was knowledgeable and explained everything to us despite the snow. It's more of a walking tour that lasted over 4 hours. There was a lunch break in between, and our guide recommended some nice sausages.

The tour guide's explanations were very detailed, but they were all in English, which was a good listening exercise. However, we always took the train, and they were all slow trains, so it took a bit long.

Achim ist großartig. Er weiß, wovon er spricht, und ist sehr zu empfehlen! Aber die Klimaanlage im Zug nach Nürnberg funktionierte nicht, es war heiß und stickig. Die Rückfahrt nach München war in Ordnung.

The tour guide was very professional and diligently explained the historical background to us, and also clearly indicated the bus departure times, where the restrooms were, and so on. However, in terms of the itinerary, the cost-performance ratio was not high. This is because we met at the train station and took the train with the guide to Nuremberg, instead of taking a bus. If you can do some research yourself, I recommend taking the train on your own; it will be less rushed in terms of time.

Der Transport erfolgte mit dem Zug, nicht mit dem Reisebus. Der Reiseleiter brachte uns zum Ort und wir hatten dort Freizeit.

Kevin is een goede gids. Er moet behoorlijk wat gelopen worden, maar het tempo was oké. Kevin legde alles gedetailleerd uit, was vriendelijk en humoristisch, en gaf ons de tijd om vragen te stellen en contact met ons op te nemen. Over het algemeen een plezierige reis om deze schilderachtige en historische stad te zien.

The group size was not too large, and our tour guide was very attentive. At each attraction, he provided detailed explanations, enriching our knowledge and helping us understand the local culture. Highly recommended.
