Admissão ao Museu Memorial da Paz de Hiroshima

The Audio guide is a MUST! It was an unforgettable experience when I visited the museum. During the visit, there was this poignant feeling while listening to the audio guide from every exhibit inside.

It's an impressive and very powerful museum, featuring many uncensored photos, real clothing, objects, walls, and even drawings made by the victims, where you can appreciate what it was like for them. They have recorded interviews with survivors and also talks with their descendants. There's only one in English, and I believe it's at 1:00 PM, so go with enough time if you want to see it. We arrived a bit late, and they still let us in, hehehe, and I think there are free audio guides at the entrance. I recommend it 1000/100; you leave feeling very reflective and impressed by how quickly the city recovered and the resilience of its people. Having spent 3 days in Hiroshima and then visiting the museum on the last day was very striking, as it doesn't seem like an unparalleled tragedy occurred there.

The museum is well laid out. Black and white photographs are grouped together with colorful artwork, depicting the horrific events of August 1945 and the month after. The free tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate, although at times quite soft-spoken, making it hard to hear as we walked through the grounds visiting different monuments throughout the park. The message here is that the world should never let this happen again.

This is worth the trip. We took the morning train from Osaka and spent the day here. The history, the exhibits and the park are worth the visit. Note that there are lots of school children that are accompanied by teachers to discuss this very difficult topic so it can get a little crowded. If you’re bringing children be prepared for explicit and heartbreaking imagery and very serious conversations.

I booked my ticket to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial on the spot, right outside the entrance. It has dark rooms with bright corridors, creating a dramatic contrast. Seeing the Dome right after walking through exhibition space gave me chills. The whole park is thoughtfully laid out. Every monument there felt meaningful. It really made me stop and think. If you’re in Hiroshima, you’ve got to see this place.

Un lugar muy especial para visitar, especialmente al ver a la gente sufriendo y los objetos después de la explosión atómica. Nunca olvidaré los rostros de dolor, las ruinas y la tragedia de la gente.

Amazing tribute to those who suffered from the bomb attack! Very emotional... took very few pictures... origami cranes have taken on a new meaning for me!

The experience of the bombing of Hiroshima (and Nagasaki) is striking for its indiscriminate brutality and for the lasting effects that impacted the population even in the years following that August morning in 1945. Walking through the exhibition halls is a terrible experience: seeing the city of Hiroshima before and after the devastating blast caused by the atomic device is chilling and cannot leave one indifferent. Some might say that visiting a concentration camp is more harrowing, but that's not the point: here we are faced with one of the most gruesome and cruel expressions of what human beings can do to their fellow humans.
