To purchase a high-speed rail ticket, you must pair it with a voucher. We chose Taike Braised Pork Congee, which has received Bib Gourmand recognition for several consecutive years. It was very crowded, and a bit hot eating lunch. The set meal itself includes a bowl of pork congee and a serving of shrimp rolls. In the restaurant, the pork congee is $40 and the shrimp rolls are $80, totaling $120. It's a bit pricey, but the portion size is not small. We also ordered Matsusaka pork with sesame oil egg and roasted pork. Personally, I think you don't need to order the roasted pork separately, as the savory congee already contains roasted pork and fried dough sticks, which are really delicious. If you need to choose a voucher, Taike Braised Pork Congee is a good option.
Taike Braised Pork Congee is truly excellent, and receiving a Michelin recommendation further guarantees its quality! This restaurant specializes in Taiwanese flavors, offering authentic delicacies like braised pork congee, fried tofu, and satay soup, allowing you to experience rich local hospitality and traditional tastes with every bite. Coupled with carefully selected ingredients and a made-to-order cooking style, it's definitely a place worth trying! If you love authentic Taiwanese flavors, this restaurant is not to be missed!
It was incredibly delicious, far exceeding my expectations 😋. I had heard from acquaintances that this place wasn't very good, but when I tried it myself, it was absolutely amazing. I can totally understand why it's Michelin-recommended. The roast pork was crispy and delicious; I even let it cool for over 20 minutes, and it was still perfectly crispy and tasty. I also ordered the bone broth and crispy chicken rolls, both of which were excellent. The kitchen and dining area seem to have no real separation, yet there was no smell of oil smoke or kitchen odors in the dining area. The dining area itself was also very comfortable. It's a great restaurant worth revisiting.
Although it's a high-speed rail combo ticket, nothing is missing. You can call ahead to order your meal, then arrange a time to pick it up. You can also order other paid dishes over the phone, and the restaurant won't get confused. I think this is a very thoughtful service. I will definitely order again next time, thank you.
Booking a high-speed rail package ticket is very cost-effective. Taking the Taichung to Taipei route as an example, a single high-speed rail ticket costs 700 NTD. However, with a package ticket, the high-speed rail fare is discounted by 15% to 595 NTD, plus the Taike Braised Pork Congee and Shrimp Rolls for 120 NTD, totaling only 715 NTD. For just 15 NTD more, you get the braised pork congee and shrimp rolls, which is an excellent value.
Paired with a high-speed rail ticket purchase, both the meat congee and shrimp rolls are delicious. You can order by phone in advance, pick up your meal on-site, and then pay with a QR code. It's very convenient.
When purchased with a high-speed rail joint ticket, it's almost the price of a regular high-speed rail ticket, and you get both the high-speed rail ticket and a meal set (meat porridge and spring rolls). You just need to order by phone and then scan to redeem on-site, which is very convenient, and the food is delicious.
It's a bit of a walk from the station, and it was still packed at 8 PM on a weekday evening – business is booming! The owner is lovely, and the food is fantastic! I highly recommend the pickled mustard greens with bamboo shoots, especially with the dried fish added in – absolutely delicious!
It's always crowded, so it's best to go during lunch or dinner hours when there are fewer people queuing, but you'll still have to wait. There's a very convenient paid parking lot right across the street.
The meal vouchers were purchased as part of a high-speed rail package for domestic travel. Even close to 2 PM, we still had to queue outside the restaurant, and it was very hot. The braised pork congee and shrimp rolls were hot enough and quite tasty, but the other à la carte items were rather ordinary and not particularly delicious.
