The staff were incredibly kind and skilled! The location was also excellent, right in front of the Tabito bus stop and Dazaifu Station. The hair styling, in particular, was truly artistic... If you upgrade to premium on-site (hair styling and expanded yukata selection / no hair styling for men), it costs about an additional 5,500 yen for two women, and even short hair could be styled! For yukata, please note that if you have a larger build or hips, your design choices may be limited due to sizing. As of early June, the yukata was comfortably warm and fine!
The staff were super friendly! I had a great time choosing my kimono, obi, and even the bag that goes with it!! I also opted to wear the wooden slippers and it’s actually not that uncomfortable! They also let you choose your hairstyle (additional 2700 yen) but no make up. I loved wearing the kimono and strolling around Yanagawa. We even took a riverboat ride and it was awesome. Definitely recommend this shop!
Our reservation was for around 11 AM, but we arrived early, and the shop still welcomed us with professional and friendly service. There were many styles of clothing and accessories to choose from. Although we couldn't add a hair braiding option on the day, the shop rented us a 550 yen hair accessory to help tie a ponytail. When changing, they provided large numbered boxes for our clothes, and we could choose a fabric tote bag for personal items. They also provided shoes and socks. The temperature dropped sharply that day, but with the multi-layered kimono and a heat-tech base layer, I didn't feel cold [the men's clothing was thinner, so my husband felt very cold]. On cold days, it's recommended to wear a stretchy, low V-neck or U-neck heat-tech inner layer. If you're particularly sensitive to cold, you can bring a thick, large scarf to wear over it. Yanagawa Water Village is truly perfect for taking photos in a kimono. We did our research beforehand and knew that Yanagawa was celebrating Hina Matsuri (Doll's Festival), and there was also a Yabusame (horseback archery) event at Mitsuhashira Shrine that day, coinciding with the Kyushu cherry blossom season, which made for many rich photos. For lunch, because Motoyoshiya was incredibly crowded, we turned a corner and went to a nearby unagi (eel) restaurant that locals frequent. It was truly delicious with excellent service, and hot tea was available. Seeing that we were wearing kimonos and might find it uncomfortable to sit on the tatami, they proactively offered small chairs, which we highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience wearing the kimono. The shop staff were friendly and helpful. The hairstyle was also very pretty. The shop owner even helped us call a taxi to Yanagawa River for the boat ride. Highly recommended.
The store is a short walk from the train station, and there was a wide variety of kimono design prints to choose from. I think they had a bit of a challenge dressing me, but the staff were incredibly hospitable and kind. It was a fun experience.
The ladies were so kind and talented! They also have a beautiful sense of taste, so not to worry if you are not sure what to pick. The selections of kimonos were vast and pretty.
We were late because we weren't familiar with the subway system, but Klook helped us extend our reservation with the shop by half an hour. Upon arrival, we realized we had booked the wrong branch, but the shop was very accommodating and allowed us to change it. They also served us with great patience. The entire experience was very comfortable and enjoyable. There were many kimonos to choose from, which made it hard to decide, and the optional hairstyling was also very professional and beautiful. It was extremely hot that day, and we were sweating a lot, but it was definitely worth it!
The shop is very close to Dazaifu Station; just cross the road and turn right to find it. The interior is not large but very clean, and there are many beautiful styles of kimonos and yukatas. The staff are attentive and professional in helping with coordination and hair styling. Wearing a yukata in summer is cooler, and even though it was very hot, I was very satisfied with this kimono rental experience and highly recommend it 👍 (Warm tip: The basic price is ¥4950, but it's recommended to upgrade directly to ¥7700 which includes hair styling).
We enjoyed the experience of wearing a kimono. It was fun and we will recommend it. It's good value for money and worth the experience.
Klook's plan is a basic experience (¥4950) that does not include a hairstyle. It is recommended to directly pay the difference of ¥2750 to upgrade to the all-inclusive advanced plan (¥7700), which allows you to choose a lace kimono and a hairstyle. Their hairstyles are very carefully done! The location is convenient and easy to find, just at the front left of the intersection after exiting Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station. After changing clothes, you can easily stroll around the Dazaifu area. We arrived at 12 o'clock, took 1 hour to change, and then walked around for about three hours, which was just right before 5 o'clock. It also avoids wearing it all day and getting too tired.
