More than a sunrise tour, this half day was truly meaningful, and our guide James was the highlight! We started by buying food to give dana (alms) at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, passing the statue of the monk who raised funds to build the mountain road. James used to be a monk, so he explained the Buddha's story, the temple murals and the meaning of the pillar decorations. The sunrise was stunning, with the whole city below as James shared each temple's story. Wat Pha Lat is a peaceful hidden gem. Through his connections with the monks, James gave us real insight into monastic life and the meaning behind the nagas, tigers and deities. Our favourite was Wat Umong. We tried local instruments and drinks at a small event and explored the meditation tunnels a king built for a revered monk (with cute bats inside!). It felt like visiting historic Lanna temples with an actual monk by your side. Highly recommended, and James is the best guide!

I forgot the name of the guide who worked so hard, I'm sorry. We even attended the evening service together, and they kindly and passionately explained many things while taking a lot of pictures for us. It was truly a meaningful trip. Highly recommended!

Egy 8 fős csoportunk volt, 3 különböző országból származó emberekkel! Az idegenvezetőnk megosztott velünk néhány történelmi érdekességet Csiangmajról és a meglátogatott 2 templomról. Az időtartam pont megfelelő volt, és hálásak vagyunk a szállodai transzferért!

Ezt a túrát választottam, mert csak erre tudtam előző nap foglalni. Azonban a várakozásaimat felülmúlta, és örülök, hogy nem egy másik, hanem ezen a túrán vehettem részt. A találkozási idő nagyon korai, így a reggel nehézkes volt, de cserébe a templomoknál és a túraútvonalakon kevesen voltak, így stresszmentesen élvezhettük az élményt. Sajnos ezúttal felhős volt az ég, így nem láttuk a napfelkeltét. Az idegenvezető is nagyon részletes magyarázatokat adott, így kellemesen telt az idő. Nagyon hálás vagyok. Mivel már 9 óra előtt visszaértünk a szállodába, a nap hátralévő részét is kihasználhattuk, ami rendkívül hatékony volt. Ajánlom ezt a túrát.

A félnapos túra jó, nem túl hosszú és nem fárasztó. Az idegenvezető, Mee nagyszerű, profi, és jól beszél mindkét nyelven, angolul és mandarinul is. Felvettek minket a szállodánál, és rugalmasak voltak a kirakással kapcsolatban, egy útközbeni helyszínen. Az utolsó megálló egy hegy tetején lévő templom volt, a 300 lépcső megmászása jó edzés volt, és fantasztikus kilátás nyílt Csiangmaj városára.

Wat Pha Lat is the most serene jungle temple, the fact that the plants have been allowed to encroach on the structures only adds to the sense of gentle decay. Even though an overcast sky meant the usual glorious late afternoon light was absent, arriving at the temple as dusk approached only made it more atmospheric. The gilded stupa and umbrellas of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep were impressive from the outset, but it was only when dusk fell and the lights were turned on that it became evident why we were there at that particular time. Magical! The view over the city is spectacular as well, both before and after dark. Our guide Danny was personable, friendly and informative, and gave us time to wander at will, and our driver got us from place to place quickly and efficiently. Minor criticisms are that as a solo traveller, I needed to book and pay for two people; also it was not clear from the activity description that a hotel pickup was possible, rather than meeting at the tour office.

Loved this tour! Hiking the Monk's Trail up to Doi Suthep was so much better than just driving to the top. The trail was shaded and easy to follow, Wat Pha Lat was peaceful and beautiful, and we reached Doi Suthep before the crowds. Our guide was great and shared lots of history along the way. Highly recommend!

I made good use of the free time in the evening for sightseeing. The duration was just right, not too long and not too short. It was very convenient that after the tour, I could be dropped off at a dinner location instead of being taken back to the hotel. The guide was also very kind and provided clear explanations, which was excellent.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly recommend the Doi Suthep half-day tour! The itinerary is well-paced and never feels rushed. Our tour guide, Mike, speaks Chinese, so communication was completely seamless. His service was exceptional; he patiently explained things along the way and even kindly offered to take photos for us, knowing all the best angles. We stopped at a Hmong village for coffee halfway through, which had a wonderful mountain atmosphere and offered an immersive experience of Northern Thailand's hill tribe culture. The entire experience was relaxed and comfortable, making it stress-free even with children. A wonderful mountain excursion in Chiang Mai and extremely satisfying!
