had a lovely stay at shan yue. 5 min walk from xinbeitou station. highlight def was the onsen (hot and cold) also had one in the room. establishment is old and has musty smell but maybe it adds to the charm. great value , staff were helpful, great experience overall

Awesome hotel! The facade of their secondary entrance (not the Google map directed one) feels very grandeur, with a walkway into an awesome lobby that’s very Bali-esque. The concierge also recommended me nearby places to go to as I hadn’t had a meal yet, and even took the effort to draw a makeshift simplistic map to guide me!
For the uninitiated, I learnt that for hotspring hotels, if you get room packages with bathtubs, the hot water will dispense hotspring water, which allows you to soak in the comforts of privacy. It was a very pleasant surprise for me.
Another unexpected surprise is that the hotel provides a condom. As I was alone, I did not need to use it so I left it alone. 😂😂
The hotel breakfast is nothing splendid to rave about, but it did give me what I need; a light and healthy breakfast to make up for all the potentially unhealthy deep fried food. 🤭
I definitely strongly recommend this hotel as the views do give a very Bali-esque vibe; a lush of greenery in an urbanised landscape with some luxury.
Highly recommend you to stay here for 3D2N if you prefer not to rush as they do not follow usual international standards of 3pm check-in, which may give an illusion of rush as check-ins are either at 6pm or 8pm. Timing is subject to if you book during holiday period or off-peak period.
