Fantastic Amazing hotel, a true example of luxury with the attention to details that is the hallmark of high end Japanese hospitality. Rooms are spacious and perfectly cleaned (as is the whole hotel), great space a small natural spring onsen. Nicely located on the edge of Gion. I hope to visit again.

Our stay at Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto was exceptional (4 nights). The hotel is beautifully designed and practically brand new. We loved that guests could choose from two different styles of yukata to wear during their stay. The breakfast was delicious (there are three options for breakfast and you can mix a match), the staff was incredibly attentive and welcoming, and our room was spacious, spotless, and equipped with excellent amenities. We had a wonderful experience and would gladly stay here again.

Below average For a 5 star hotel, the service is terrible. Don’t even step near the restaurant. The concierge is also pretty useless.

Banyan tree made our trip in Kyoto. The concierge and hotel staff were so helpful with planning and implementing my engagement plans, I can’t thank them enough. The hotel itself is stunning and the rooms are in keeping with a proper Ryoken with a modern twist. I highly recommend staying
