What to expect
ISHIKARI-NABE is a representative local dish of Hokkaido. Ishikari-nabe is a miso-based hot pot made with salmon or trout and vegetables. "Kindai-tei," a long-established Japanese restaurant founded in 1880 in Ishikari City, next to Sapporo City, is said to be the birthplace of Ishikari-nabe. At the birthplace of Ishikari-nabe, which is a completely reservation-only restaurant, we offer a menu that is easy for foreigners to eat, limited to this product. In addition to the main menu Ishikari-nabe, you can enjoy 6 dishes unique to a specialty store along with the 145-year history. The historic store is also a must-see.

Reviews
Experience 100% authentic Ishikari hot pot in a Japanese cultural heritage building located at the mouth of the Ishikari River. The traditional shy hostess warmly entertains you with delicious food. Although the house is old, the dining environment is comparable to that of a Taiga drama! The restroom retains the traditional layout but the bathroom equipment is in line with modern standards. For those who love the Showa style, this is a very worthwhile slow trip.
Very classic and old style restaurant. The restaurant is runed by an old couple and they really serve the food that we think is nice and fresh. Are we the first group who book this restaurant through here? 😅
Truly a delicious flavor worth eating! It was worth it for the eight of us to charter two cars and come all the way here to eat. Each dish has a sense of history and is also very delicious. Even parts that I usually don't like to eat became enjoyable. We had Ishikari Nabe in the streets of Otaru the day before, but in comparison, Kintaitei's Ishikari Nabe is far superior in taste! The owner and his wife are both very old, but the service is still very attentive and not sloppy at all. Sitting in a shop that has been recognized as a Japanese cultural heritage, eating dishes that span a hundred years of history, makes you feel like you've instantly traveled back 145 years to Ezo. Combined with the snowy scenery outside, this meal became the most unforgettable meal of this Hokkaido trip!
This dish is absolutely fantastic! The flavors are perfectly balanced, and every bite is a delight. The ingredients are fresh, the seasoning is just right, and the presentation is beautiful. Truly a meal to remember!
