What to expect
Take a walk through Kyoto's three most famous geisha districts and visit establishments significant to the city’s rich history. Begin at Gojyorakuen, once the most notorious red-light district, and continue to Miyagawacho, renowned for geisha skilled in Japanese dance. The geisha profession is often misunderstood, and this tour aims to correct those misconceptions. In Gion, your guide will explain what it means to be a geisha as you pass boarding residences and entertainment houses. You might hear geisha practicing their musical skills or catch a glimpse of one hurrying across cobbled streets to her next appointment.
Note: This tour does not guarantee sightings of geisha. The itinerary is subject to change based on the day’s actual conditions.

A highlight of our Japan trip. Our tour guide, Miss Naoko, was very knowledgeable. The pictures and video clips she had prepared were greatly appreciated. She was also enthusiastic and friendly and took the time to answer any of our questions clearly and with great detail. Although the tour was timed, we never felt rushed. Highly recommended!
