Highly recommend going on the tour! As road conditions at night can be challenging, we were very glad we booked a tour and had an expert pick us up and drive us around the reserve so we could appreciate the nature and wildlife with a peace of mind. Our guide, Yoshida-San, was a true expert in navigating the difficult roads WHILE helping spot wildlife along the way (of course in a very safe manner). He was very patient and enthusiastic throughout the whole tour, making a few extra rounds to help us spot more wildlife! As we were not Japanese, he was able to communicate to us in English while sharing many fun facts about the park and its wildlife. Would love to go back again another season for another tour with him!

we were able to see some animals during the night tour. though it will be better if can see more animals. it is entirely by chance

we saw a bear fishing soon after we set off. Saw 3 owls, many deers and foxes, and one raccoon dog. the tour guide is very experienced. would have been better if we can understand Japanese. but we are already very happy with what we saw during the tour. thank you very much! recommend others who like to see some wild animals!

You can see foxes, deer, and owls. The course is on the way to Shiretoko. It started raining from the beginning of the tour, so the guide said that the animals couldn't be seen, so I thought I was wasting my money, but he finally found them all. He explained things nonstop for an hour and a half, so it would be best if you can speak Japanese. *Important* If you pay on site, it's 4,000 yen;;;; There are many companies that offer night tours, so please come and pay in person (PayPay, cash only)

The thoughtful Japanese tour guide Masaki san let us see wild bears, foxes and sika deer, which was very surprising. We also stopped at a certain point to look at the beautiful starry sky.

It’s a great experience when the weather is good, and it’s worth a try. Seeing roots at night is really a different experience during the day.

This tour mainly involves riding in a car at night to Shiretoko to see nocturnal wildlife. What you see depends on luck. That day, I saw six Hokkaido red foxes, some leisurely walking on the road, others disappearing quickly. Additionally, Shiretoko at night has no light pollution, so you can see many stars. We got out of the car to stargaze.

Although the reservation was for an English tour, most of the tour guides spoke Japanese. We were lucky. We met a one-year-old brown bear less than 20 minutes after setting off. We saw some foxes along the way and an owl parked on a street lamp. At the turnaround point, the tour guide asked us to get off the car to look at the stars and get some fresh air. Otherwise, we stayed in the car the whole time (which was safer).

The itinerary is good and there are not too many people. It’s very exciting. You can see some animals. The driver and tour guide are also the same. They are all very professional.

If the weather and conditions are right, you can have a short but fantastic time.
