there are signs everywhere from the subway line to the herb garden. the garden is pleasant and well maintained. would recommend the roundtrip ropeway tickets if you like to spend time taking photos of the flowers and landscape. the ropeway brings you up to the top of the hill and you make your way down to the first station to take the ropeway back to the ground level.
while the queue to the entrance was long, it was quick to claim the physical tickets. As you alight from the ropeway ride, you could smell the fragrance of herbs. Herb garden is for both young and old alike. There is a place with hammocks where one can bask under the sun. There is a wide array of flowers and herbs. Scent making is also available. There is a food booth that serves dinner and another one for redreshments. it was a day well spent. facilities: restrooms are provided service: all of the staff were helpful ease of booking on Klook: it was very easy. I purchased the tickets on the day that we went.
The cable car offers a beautiful view of Kobe city. At the top, there are stalls where you can buy food or souvenirs. You'll find the first flowers, a rose garden, and then walk downhill through the Herbal Garden to the middle cable car station.
Spent a good 2 hours here. Enjoyed the Ropeway up and was fortunate to have a cable car to myself! Spectacular view from the top too overseeing Kobe city and the harbour view. Lovely trail through the garden seeing and scenting the different flowers and species of spice plants. Truly activated the botanist within me!
This is a must do if you are going to Kobe. The cost for roundtrip is 2500 yen on-site. You save 500 yen. the cable car is fabulous. I was blessed with a beautiful day. Amazing gardens and scenery.
Stepping into Nunobiki Herb Gardens, I originally just wanted to unwind amidst the fragrant herbs and flowers. What truly added a bright splash of color to this trip was The Herb Dining, located on the hillside. This restaurant is always full, requiring you to register and wait, but waiting in the mountain breeze and shadows of light felt like an overture, foreshadowing the beauty to come. The restaurant's space is high-ceilinged, with a wooden structure and soft lines creating the warmth of a European mountain village restaurant. Stained glass scattered fragmented light, and the window seats offer views of the flowing greenery of the gardens. Online reviews say it's "like a Swiss chalet," but sitting inside, it feels more like a place where time slows down gently. The light from the chandeliers is gentle, unassuming yet lending the entire space a sense of stability and quality. I ordered the special menu: Iberico Pork Grill with Fig Agrodolce Sauce (¥3,190 + ¥500). But what truly stole my gaze was the three-tiered appetizer stand. The eight appetizers were like a miniature garden—herbs, edible flowers, bright colors, delicate cuts, as if the seasons of the garden were collected on a single plate. Every bite carried the scent of herbs, gentle, refreshing, and full of vitality. This was the most anticipated meal of the trip, and it certainly became the most satisfying moment. Looking back at the restaurant again before leaving, I felt that it was not just about eating, but a quiet landscape. If you're willing to give yourself a little quiet time, it's well worth slowing down in the herb garden and letting this place add a touch of fragrance and light to your journey.
What a beautiful place! We caught the Ropeway up to the top and walked down through the gardens and waterfall. So beautiful. We wish we had allowed an extra hour to enjoy the champagne at the glasshouses and the hammocks but we’re a bit rushed. Highly recommend!
Beautiful flower garden that you should definitely check out if you're in Kobe! Would recommend taking the ropeway all the way to the top, and then walking down to the middle station as there are stuff to see along the way down. From the middle station, you can take the ropeway down to the bottom station
