Snorkeling or Diving Experience in Moon Bay from Kota Kinabalu

The snorkeling arrangements are good, and there are employees nearby who are very caring about the situation. Although the sun is very hot, the visibility of many fishes is also good.

We will pick you up at the hotel ten minutes earlier. The port is next to the Mermaid Island. If you drive from the downtown area for about 2 hours, but because we live in the Tuaran area, the journey takes about 45 minutes. After that, take a break and get a group of about 15 -20 people, only we are licensed to dive, others are snorkeling, they also play banana boats (not sure if you want to charge extra). Because there was a typhoon in the first two days, the seabed was full of turbidity. The first potential was about 3 meters. The second dive was only 1 meter. I couldn’t see where the coach was, but I can see that there is a lot of live here. Corals, full of bright colors, it is a pity! If it is clear, it must be very beautiful! The weather was very good that day. I returned to MoonBay at about 1 o'clock. The simple food is good. I can wash it here first. Many cats on the island will be spoiled, but they will ask for food directly. People are much less than Mermaid Island. Only our group So it is very quiet, the beach is very clean, there are several swings on the beach, the photos are beautiful ~ rest time can be lying on the hammock to listen to the sound of the waves, very comfortable! The final activity is to put live corals into the sea for regeneration and conservation. I feel that the people here are very caring for their environment. It is full of good ~ personally feels worthwhile to participate than the Mermaid Island!

This time, we have booked four dive snorkeling and designated Chinese coaches. The coach will be contacted the day before the trip (I am leaving the line information). I will tell the time and the designated location, and take the bus to the boat. There will be time for us to change the swimsuit. There are some tea snacks to eat (no extra money), then we will receive diving snorkeling equipment, and then we will safely explain that we will speak English and Chinese on the day. The diving instructor is very attentive and knows how to take care of people. Even the first time I have a good time! 😊😊😊

We were picked up from the hotel at about 715am and travelled like 2 hours from the KK city to the Usukan jetty. We had a small break and briefing before we set off to the small island very near Moon Bay on a boat with the mask & snorkel and life jacket. The mask was of standard size, it would not fit well if you have a bigger face area. The two small pieces on the mouthpiece of the snorkel were broken, couldn't really bite on it but then one could still cover your mouth over the mouthpiece to hold the snorkel in place. We were given the time (maybe about 30mins or more) to snorkel from the beach. The visibility of the water was a little cloudy on that day we went; we also had a chance to choose if we want to play the banana boat (chargeable at RM50 per pax). Thereafter, we get on the boat again and moved to the centre of the sea in between the small island and the moon bay. This is the second snorkelling session, set off from the platform in the middle of the sea. We were again given time to snorkel before we were then ferry to the moon bay island. Lunch was provided there, and you can do light wash up. You can take photos on the island and go kayaking if you fancy. They also have a very good initiatives to plant-a-coral program which we can participate in. We left the island after the program. Another point to note, we were almost the only ones on the island (excluding the staff there).. "almost" because we were later joined by another group of snorkellers however they also left earlier than us. There weren't noisy Chinese people around. The journey back to the city took longer time maybe because of the jam. Our tour guide Ma Yi Hang was very good and clear in his communications. A multi-lingual, friendly and polite young chap and he makes sure everyone enjoyed the the trip. Our group made up of mostly Taiwanese + some Hong Kongers group therefore he spoke in Mandarin in his communications. He also spoke good Cantonese while chatting with the Hong Kongers. He also shared useful tour information with us. Overall, he did a very good job leading our group!

Perfect guide, perfect scenery, perfect relaxation, perfect people and food, but the shortfall is that the pre-departure pick-up and contact is not active, can not provide the correct information, people can not rest assured
