The Old Town of Lijiang is a well-preserved old city of ethnic minorities with brilliant culture, the town was first built in the late Song Dynasty (960 - 1279), it has a history of more than 800 years.

If you’re not sure where to start, follow our route: Kick off with a visit to Lijiang Old Town, a well-preserved ethnic minority ancient city boasting profound cultural heritage. First built in the late Song Dynasty-history spanning over 800 years.

Stroll through Old Town with your guide, who will lead you to the Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture. It showcases their unique pictographic Dongba script—one of the world’s few remaining living hieroglyphs- and the traditions of their animist Dongba religion

Next, you will visit the Mufu Palace. The top ruler of Naxi minority Mu Family had been in Lijiang since Yuan Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, totally 470 years with 22 generation rulers.

Next, you’ll visit Mufu Palace—residence of the Mu Clan, the hereditary rulers of the Naxi people who governed Lijiang for 470 years across 22 generations. On-site, you’ll marvel at the palace’s grand architecture blending Han, Tibetan, and Naxi styles.

The present Mufu Palace is a representative of ancient central China architectural style in Ming Dynasty. While it also keeps the characters of Tang and Song Dynasties. And inside it, the details show the minority features of Bai and Naxi groups.

Explore ancient halls displaying while your guide shares stories of the Mu family’s governance and the region’s historical ties to the imperial court. Enjoy the panoramic views of Lijiang Old Town and distant mountains from the palace's upper terraces.

Enjoy lunch in the local restaurant, then move on to Lion Hill Park. The Lion Mountain looks like a sleeping lion from afar, providing a wonderful picture.

Next, follow your guide to Lion Hill Park. Shaped like a sleeping lion from a distance, the park offers sweeping panoramic views of Lijiang Old Town—you’ll overlook the maze of traditional tile-roofed buildings, winding streams&distant mountain backdrops.

Your last stop is the Black Dragon Pond Park. Follow your tour guide to explore the ancient monuments such as the Longshen Temple, the Deyue Pavilion, the Suocui Bridge and the Hanyue Stage.

Final stop is Black Dragon Pond Park—follow your guide to explore its ancient landmarks, including Longshen Temple and more. You’ll wander along the tranquil pond shores, admiring the reflection of distant Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the clear water.
