Things to do in Hillarys Boat Harbour

The 2-hour whale watching tour was enjoyable. The sky was clear, sunny, and breezy. There were whale sightings, but they were quite far away, and the whales didn't surface much. The tour operator tried to maneuver around to find more whale appearances for the passengers.

It was a truly amazing experience — although windy during the day, the operator managed to return, and we were lucky enough to spot more than five humpback whales. We had plenty of time to watch them, and it was absolutely unforgettable.

It was a great experience watching the whales. We also had super supportive staff on the boat. Would like to do whale watching another day as well.

What an experience! Australian Pinnacles Tour arranges the hotel pick-up and drop-off, and Rottnest Fast Ferries handles the actual whale watching tour, with a Marine Biologist assigned to our trip. Many experienced seasickness, and those who didn't were out on the viewing deck looking for whales. The marine biologist was on the upper deck, looking for whales and immediately informed us when a pod was spotted, e.g., "at your 1 o'clock direction," and the ferry would shift its direction to allow people on the viewing deck to have the best view of the whales. Highly recommend!

The highlight for us was having a marine biologist with us..she didn’t just give general explanations but actually came around to our seats, interacted with everyone, and shared so many fascinating facts about whales. It made the whole trip so much more meaningful and engaging. And of course… the whales! We were lucky enough to spot plenty of them throughout the tour, and seeing these gentle giants so close was just magical. The combination of excitement, learning, and fun made this tour truly worth it. We laughed, we cheered, and we enjoyed every moment. trip to rottness was easy, no delay and there’s ample time to explore. Took up and paid for the extra bus hop on and off to explore the whole island in a day, worth the trip and beautiful views too!
