Fantastic 5.0
Wakayama Kobo Hotel is conveniently located, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Next door is a public library combined with Starbucks and Tsutaya Bookstore, where you can drink coffee, read books, and buy stationery or souvenirs. The rooftop open-air bath has a wide view. Soaking in the hot spring is relaxing and healing, which is the favorite enjoyment of this trip and worth revisiting. Cleanliness: Excellent Breakfast: Simple, Japanese-style, not bad, matched with comfortable and relaxing scenery

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel's location is very convenient, close to Wakayama JR Station and connected to Kintetsu Department Store. The bus terminal downstairs makes it easy to take a bus to Kuroshio Market or other attractions. Mr. Cao, the front desk receptionist, was very friendly. We paid extra for breakfast, and the only thing to mention is that the breakfast was just average, not particularly delicious.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel's location is convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the station. Although the hotel seems a bit old, everything else is great. The public bath, though small, is very unique, and they offer free popsicles and Yakult. There's also complimentary late-night ramen at 9:30 PM. I would choose this hotel again on my next visit to Wakayama.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel has convenient transportation and isn't far from the city center. Almost all rooms have ocean views, perfect for relaxing. You can take a shuttle, and if it's outside of the shuttle hours, there are also buses available. The room decor isn't old and outdated, it's very comfortable. Luckily, there weren't many people during my stay, so I almost had the public bath all to myself 👍

More about Wakayama hotels

What staying in Wakayama feels like

Staying in Wakayama is compact: the gap between the most affordable options and the top tier is very small, so you won’t find wildly different nightly rates across classes. The best balance of price and comfort is the standard tier, which typically offers the most value for most travellers.

How the hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy options sit just below standard and are the most budget-friendly choice for travellers focused on keeping costs down. Standard is the sweet spot, offering the best value and appealing to most visitors who want a comfortable stay without splurging. The biggest step up in price is from standard to premium, so choosing premium is the main decision point for those who want noticeably more comfort or amenities. Luxury sits above premium and is for travellers who prioritise an elevated experience, but expect only modest rate differences compared with lower tiers.

When travellers from Singapore tend to book

Rooms are typically cheapest in 9月 and most expensive in 8月, so a budget-led trip fits best in 9月 when rates are roughly 13% lower than the priciest month. Travellers from Singapore generally lock rooms in about 33 days ahead; with that lead time and the fallback booking pattern, planning about a month in advance keeps options flexible while avoiding last-minute rushes.
