Fantastic 5.0
Wakayama Kobo Hotel is conveniently located, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Next door is a public library combined with Starbucks and Tsutaya Bookstore, where you can drink coffee, read books, and buy stationery or souvenirs. The rooftop open-air bath has a wide view. Soaking in the hot spring is relaxing and healing, which is the favorite enjoyment of this trip and worth revisiting. Cleanliness: Excellent Breakfast: Simple, Japanese-style, not bad, matched with comfortable and relaxing scenery

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel's location is very convenient, close to Wakayama JR Station and connected to Kintetsu Department Store. The bus terminal downstairs makes it easy to take a bus to Kuroshio Market or other attractions. Mr. Cao, the front desk receptionist, was very friendly. We paid extra for breakfast, and the only thing to mention is that the breakfast was just average, not particularly delicious.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel's location is convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the station. Although the hotel seems a bit old, everything else is great. The public bath, though small, is very unique, and they offer free popsicles and Yakult. There's also complimentary late-night ramen at 9:30 PM. I would choose this hotel again on my next visit to Wakayama.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel has convenient transportation and isn't far from the city center. Almost all rooms have ocean views, perfect for relaxing. You can take a shuttle, and if it's outside of the shuttle hours, there are also buses available. The room decor isn't old and outdated, it's very comfortable. Luckily, there weren't many people during my stay, so I almost had the public bath all to myself 👍

More about Wakayama hotels

What staying in Wakayama feels like

Staying in Wakayama shows a very small spread between the most affordable and most premium options—prices are close across classes, so upgrading doesn’t blow out the budget. The best balance for most travellers tends to be standard properties, which combine value and comfort.

How hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy options sit below standard and are the simplest way to keep costs down for budget-minded travellers. Standard is the best-value tier and represents the sensible middle ground for most stays. The biggest step up is from standard to premium, where you trade only a little extra for a noticeably more comfortable experience. Luxury properties are above premium in comfort and price, appealing to travellers after a more indulgent stay.

When travellers from Australia typically book

Rates are typically highest in August and lowest in September, so a September stay suits budget-led trips when prices are at their lowest. Rooms here are usually booked around a month ahead (about 33 days), so plans can be made with moderate advance notice; for those wanting more choice, consider booking earlier.
