Rainforest Wild Adventure Singapore Guide: Explore the NEW East & West Zones at Mandai
Rainforest Wild Adventure has officially entered its full form with the opening of the brand-new
East zone — and honestly, this completely changed how we experienced the park.
What was already Singapore’s most ambitious “adventure wildlife park” now feels twice as big, twice as immersive, and way more worth planning a full-day trip for. With one ticket, you now get access to two completely different rainforest worlds: the original West zone and the newly launched East zone inspired by African and Madagascan landscapes.
We spent a full day exploring both — and here’s everything we loved, what surprised us, and what you absolutely shouldn’t miss.
What Is Rainforest Wild Adventure?
Before the East zone came along, Rainforest Wild Adventure was already something quite different from a typical zoo.
Instead of flat walkways and standard viewing enclosures, the park is designed like an adventure rainforest experience, where you move through forest trails, rocky landscapes, cave-like formations, and elevated walkways while spotting animals along the way.
It spans two zones:
Together, they create a 20-hectare experience where wildlife, nature, and adventure activities all blend into one continuous journey — rather than separate exhibits.
It’s less about “walking through a zoo” and more about feeling like you’re actually moving through a rainforest expedition.
🌍 FIRST STOP: Rainforest Wild Adventure East (The New Zone You Should Start With)
If you’re visiting for the first time, we’d strongly recommend starting here.
The East zone feels more open, more dramatic, and honestly more “wow” right from the start. It has a very different energy compared to the dense jungle feel of the West — think wide landscapes, layered habitats, and more “expedition-style” walking paths.
1. Okapi Encounter
One of the biggest highlights here is the okapi habitat — marking their Southeast Asian debut.
They’re surprisingly surreal to see in person. From afar, you notice zebra-like legs… but the rest of the animal looks almost giraffe-like and extremely elegant. It’s one of those “wait, I didn’t expect this in Singapore” moments.
💡 Tip: Go early in the morning when the animals are more active and the lighting is softer for photos.
2. Hidden Forest
This was one of our favourite zones to just slow down and walk through.
Hidden Forest feels lush and enclosed in the best way — like you’ve stepped into a deep rainforest valley. The pathways weave through thick greenery, and you often spot animals in unexpectedly natural-looking habitats.
It’s also one of the most atmospheric areas in the entire park.
3. Riverine Forest
If you need a breather from walking, this is where you’ll naturally slow down.
The Riverine Forest area is built around water ecosystems, and we found ourselves spending a lot of time here just watching the movement around the habitats. It has a really calm, almost meditative feel compared to other parts of the park.
4. Lemur Land
This one feels especially fun if you’re visiting with friends or family. Lemur Land is inspired by Madagascar, and watching the lemurs move through their habitat is honestly one of the most entertaining parts of the East zone.
There’s a playful energy here that makes it easy to linger longer than expected.
5. Red Ravine
Red Ravine is where the scenery really shifts. The landscape becomes more rugged and dramatic, with rock formations and elevated viewpoints that make you feel like you’re on a safari trail. It’s also one of the best photo spots in the East zone.
💭 Our take: This is the area that really sells the “African expedition” theme.
Adventure Experiences in East Zone (Don’t Skip These)
What makes Rainforest Wild Adventure East special isn’t just the wildlife — it’s how interactive everything is.
1. Canopy Glider
One of the newest experiences in the East zone, Canopy Glider lets you soar above the rainforest while taking in panoramic views of the habitats below. It's short, but incredibly fun.
Canopy Glider
Cost: $10 (standalone add-on)
Duration: 10 minutes
Opening hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30PM
2. Ravine Swing
If you're after an adrenaline rush, this is the one. You'll swing several metres above the ground while overlooking the dramatic Red Ravine landscape below.
Ravine Swing
Cost: $10 (standalone add-on)
Duration: 20 minutes
Opening hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30PM
3. Primate Climb
Challenge yourself on this climbing structure inspired by the giant strangler fig trees found in tropical rainforests. It's surprisingly fun even for adults.
Primate Climb
Cost: $10 (standalone add-on)
Duration: 20 minutes
Opening hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30PM
4. Split Rock Summit
One of the best viewpoints in the park. The climb itself is manageable, but the reward is a wide panoramic view across the entire landscape.
📸 Tip: Come during cooler hours — it’s a much nicer climb.
Split Rock Summit
Cost: $10 (standalone add-on)
Duration: 40 minutes
Opening hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30PM
5. Treetop Traverse
This feels like the most immersive experience in the East zone.
You’re literally moving across elevated bridges and obstacles above the forest floor, with constant views into the habitats below. It’s the closest thing to “being inside the rainforest” rather than just looking at it.
Treetop Traverse
Cost: $10 (standalone add-on)
Duration: 20 minutes
Opening hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30PM
DON’T SKIP: Rainforest Wild Adventure West (The Original Zone)
While the East zone gets a lot of attention, the West side is still where the park originally built its identity — and it’s absolutely worth your time.
If East feels like an open expedition, West feels like a dense Southeast Asian jungle trek.

Just beyond the Entrance Gorge, you’ll find yourself in The Karsts, a stunning open-concept habitat where jagged limestone formations rise through the rainforest canopy.
This rugged landscape is home to the François' langur, an agile and rare primate known for its impressive leaps and effortless tree-to-tree navigation.
You can watch these fascinating creatures in action from the Karst Lookout viewing platform, or for a more immersive experience, take the Karst Loop Trek, where you’ll navigate forest trails, cross boulders and logs over a stream, and trek through towering roots.
🐵 Ranger Talk: Hoping to learn more about the mysterious François' langur? Don’t miss the Ranger Talk at 9:45 AM or 1:45 PM, where you’ll hear about conservation efforts and how these elusive primates are being protected under the EAZA Ex Situ Programme (EEP).

Wild Apex Adventure, where you’ll scale the karst cliffs on a guided via ferrata climb (a climbing route in mountainous terrain)! More information at the end.
3. Forest Floor
Step into the Forest Floor, where the rainforest comes alive beneath your feet. As you descend deeper into this nutrient-rich world, you’ll navigate fallen trees, climb over logs, and step across boulders — almost like a scene from Jumanji.
Keep your eyes peeled for free-roaming mousedeer or grazing hog deer! This lush habitat is also home to axis deer, elongated tortoises, and Asian brown tortoises, all thriving in the hidden corners of the forest.
For those who love adventure, take the Root Hollow Trek, where you’ll climb through a root tunnel, or explore the Forest Floor Trek, featuring a preserved heritage staircase leading toward Rock Cascade.
But don’t worry if you prefer a smoother journey — regular walkways that are wheelchair-accessible ensure that everyone can experience the magic of the rainforest at their own pace.
🦌 Ranger Talk: Join the Deer Ranger Talk at 10:15 AM or 2:15 PM to discover what makes the hog deer, axis deer, and lesser mousedeer unique.
4. The Outpost
Grab a quick bite and a refreshing drink at Rangers Café, where you can rest your feet before heading deeper into the park. But The Outpost isn’t just a pit stop — it’s also home to the park’s camping ground, where adventurers can spend the night under the stars in one of 20 dome tents.
5. Rock Cascade
As you journey beyond the Forest Floor, the landscape transforms yet again at Rock Cascade! Towering trees and lush bamboo groves set the stage for one of the park’s most exciting encounters — the Malayan tiger.
Follow the elevated walkway as it winds through the rainforest, offering incredible views of this apex predator as it prowls through tunnels, scales rocky formations, and navigates cascading waterfalls to reach its lookout point.
Klook Tip: For an even closer view of the Malayan tiger, cross the root bridge deeper into the habitat. You might just spot the tiger perched on the rocks!
But the thrill doesn’t stop there! Rock Cascade is also home to two of the park’s three flexible habitats, where species like the red dhole, bearded pig, and babirusa rotate throughout the day. These dynamic enclosures allow visitors to observe the natural behaviors of both predator and prey, making every visit a little different.
🐯 Ranger Talk: Catch the Red Dhole Ranger Talk at 10:45 AM or 2:45 PM to learn about the social dynamics of dholes or head to Tiger Waterfall at 11 AM or 3 PM to hear about the critical conservation efforts protecting Malayan tigers!
Feeling hungry after all that excitement? Stop by Sentinel Food Hall for a well-deserved break before continuing your adventure.
6. The Canopy
Ever wondered what life is like high up in the treetops? The Canopy takes you right into the heart of the rainforest’s upper layers, where thick foliage creates a thriving habitat for arboreal wildlife.
Look out for Javan langurs, red-shanked douc langurs, and siamangs swinging effortlessly between branches!
For a truly immersive experience, step onto the Langur Walking Nets — suspended 180 square meters above the ground, this exhilarating walkway lets you move through the trees just like the primates themselves!
Don’t forget to glance down — hidden among the undergrowth, you might just spot the elusive Philippine spotted deer.
For those craving even more adventure, the Wild Apex Adventure includes an exclusive elevated bridge crossing to the Langur Observation Deck, offering an unparalleled view of these agile primates in action.
🐵 Rangers Talk: If you’re curious to learn more, join the Langurs & Siamang Ranger Talk at 11:30 AM or 3:30 PM, where you’ll discover what makes colobines unique, how these primates survive on a leaf-based diet, and the key differences between a gibbon and a langur.
7. Watering Hole
Step into Rainforest Wild Adventure West's largest zone, the Watering Hole, where water shapes life in the rainforest. As you wander along the meandering elevated walkways, keep an eye out for the Malayan tapir roaming below or the Malayan sun bear skillfully foraging among the trees.
This zone is also home to the third flexible habitat, where species like the babirusa, bearded pig, and red dhole rotate throughout the day, ensuring that every visit offers a new encounter.
🐻 Ranger Talk: Want to learn more about these fascinating animals? Stop by the Malayan Sun Bear Ranger Talk at 12:30 PM or 4:30 PM, where rangers will reveal fun facts about the smallest bear species and its surprising love for honey! You’ll also meet the Malayan tapir, the only tapir species found outside the Americas, and discover how estuarine crocodiles regulate their body temperature.
For those craving adventure, the Upper Stream Trek and Lower Stream Trek let you navigate across boulders, fallen trees, and suspended bridges, bringing you even closer to the water’s edge. One of the highlights? Crossing the suspended bridges over the crocodile pond, where the mighty estuarine crocodile lurks beneath the surface.
When it’s time for a break, grab a drink or a bite at Watering Hole Café before continuing your rainforest adventure!
8. The Cavern
Your Rainforest Wild Adventure West experience culminates in
The Cavern, a breathtaking 220-meter-long underground wonder inspired by the legendary Mulu Caves in
Sarawak, Malaysia.
As you step inside, you’ll be surrounded by towering rock formations, intricate chambers, and an ethereal glow from the Oculus — a natural skylight that filters sunlight into the darkness below, creating the perfect photo spot.
Navigate through the subterranean walkways for a smooth and scenic route, or for the more daring, take the side paths where you might encounter fascinating cave-dwelling creatures like the blind cave fish, cave racer snake, and fluorescent Asian black scorpion.
