👍 Pros (why people like it) 1. Big savings if you do the full itinerary Example: Transport without pass ≈ 12,110 yen Pass price ≈ 8,500 yen → ~30% savings 2. Extremely convenient No need to buy tickets repeatedly Just scan and ride everything Covers many transport types (train, bus, cable car, boat)
Good to have this pass. 3 non-consecutive days would have been better. The journey to Hakone from Tokyo was long. But we were compensated for the view of Fuji. The attractions were well attended because of the good weather, but not completely overcrowded. The journey back from the cruise station was very tiring and confusing because we had to queue for a long time. It was not well organized and it was very confusing where to queue. All in all, very nice.
The Hakone-Kamakura Pass is a very practical travel ticket, especially suitable for travelers who love to explore Japanese culture and natural beauty. This ticket covers a variety of transportation modes from Hakone to Kamakura, including trains, buses, cable cars, etc. It is not only convenient and fast, but also saves a lot of transportation costs. First of all, Hakone is famous for its beautiful hot springs, lakes and mountains. With this free pass, you can easily take the Hakone Tozan Railway, Hakone Ropeway, etc., allowing you to enjoy the natural scenery along the way. Take the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani and experience the charm of hot springs while enjoying the magnificent volcanic landscape. The hot spring hotels in Hakone-Yumoto Station are also worth a try to completely relax you. Afterwards, traveling to Kamakura was also a highlight. This historic city is famous for its temples, shrines and beautiful beaches, and with this pass's convenient transportation, you can easily visit famous attractions such as Hasedera Temple and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Kamakura's ancient streets and Japanese-style shops also provide a great shopping and dining experience. Overall, the Hakone-Kamakura Pass is not only convenient and practical, but also allows you to fully explore the natural and cultural charms of these two regions. It is a fulfilling and relaxing travel experience, and is highly recommended for travelers who like to experience Japan in depth.
My second time using the Hakone Kamakura 3 day pass. It is a easy way to travel from Shinjuku station to Hakone. With extra fee for the romance train. Would buy again as it covers a lot of the transport in local area and Kamakura.
As usual easy and quick pick up at Odawara station. unfortunately when we arrived it was heavily raining here and we couldnt use our first day with this pass. I would recommend anyone to wait till you see the weather forecast and book the pass.
I used the Hakone & Kamakura Pass, but I made a separate reservation for the Romancecar and went on it. I could use it after exchanging the physical ticket at the Odakyu Tourist Center, and the staff spoke Korean, Japanese, and English, so they explained Korean well too. There are various transportation options in Hakone. I enjoyed the rides and things to see and had a great time! There were too many tourists in Kamakura, but the scenery was so pretty, the Enoden train was so cute, and the railway was pretty, so it was perfect for taking pictures. The weather was so hot that my clothes got all wet! Nevertheless, I had a happy time~
Made traveling within the regions very efficient. We spent one day in Kamakura and two days in Hakone. Even though we stayed in a ryoken for one full day, the efficiency of transportation without having to buy paper tickets was worth the expense.
It’s easy to use! But if you plan well, you can make good use of the travel pass to travel between Hakone and Kamakura! You have to be mentally prepared, you will have a hard time! 😂 You need to reserve at least two days for Hakone (not counting delays) Luggage from Tokyo Shinjuku Station to Hakone)! In short, we are so lucky. We set off from Gotemba to Gora so early this morning and took the last Owakudani Ropeway (which was closed due to strong winds) before 10 o'clock. …So be sure to reserve more time in Hakone! Originally, I didn’t plan to stay in Kamakura, because we spent three days in Hakone and two days by car to go out to Tokyo, so we could travel in one day, so we visited Owakudani in the morning. Cable car → Pirate Ship → Kamakura (there are many transfers on the way) and finally return to Gotemba. Buy a JR ticket (Kamakura → Gotemba) for about HKD 80, but you will be much more comfortable!
The Hakone Kamakura Pass allows you to visit several popular attractions. On the first day, we took the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku Station to Fujisawa Station and then visited Eno Arcade Kamakura’s famous attractions. You have to transfer 3 trains to get to Hakone the next day, which is a bit troublesome, but you can still get it in one go. Take the mountain tram, mountain cable car, and cable car in Hakone, go to Lake Ashi to ride the pirate ship, and finally take the mountain bus back to Hakone-Yumoto Station. It’s all in one ticket, and you don’t need to queue up to buy additional tickets. It’s very convenient! On the third day, I took the train to Odawara Station to see Odawara Castle. It is highly recommended to visit this attraction. You can download an exclusive APP for Odawara Castle Castle. There is an introduction to Odawara Castle in Traditional Chinese. It is very worth a visit. Then take the Odakyu Electric Railway back to Shinjuku Station. This is a very value-for-money pass. The more troublesome thing is that you have to show your ticket when passing through the ticket gate, instead of swiping the QR code to enter and exit the station. But if the station attendant is not around, you can go in and out of the station directly, which is quite interesting. 😅
Wowowow!!! Purchasing this pass was such a genius move. If you ever travel to Hakone or Kamakura, having this pass is an absolute BLESSING. It made moving around so much easier and the accesses and inclusions are so nice. We definitely got our money's worth and more. I cannot recommend this enough!
