This pass is ideal for traveling to Nara, offering free train and bus travel within the city. (1) This online pass should be activated on the day of travel, starting at Namba Station, and you should find the Kintetsu Line route. (2) To activate, click on the voucher and select "start using." (3) There is a train schedule; choose a Limited Express train to Kintetsu-Nara. This pass does not include advance seat reservations. (4) Upon reaching the destination station, exit via the East Exit and walk along Noborioji-cho Road towards Nara Park, or take a Nara Kotsu bus from in front of the station to the Todaiji Daibutsuden/Kasugataisha-mae stop. - I personally walked to see the deer park and Todaiji Temple on the way there, and took the bus back to the station. (5) You can visit Todaiji Temple (Great Buddha), but there is an admission fee for the interior of the temple. (6) This pass can also be used to ride the Cable Car to enjoy the atmosphere at the mountaintop, which has an amusement park. From Nara Station, take the train back to Ikoma Station. Upon exiting the station, turn left, and you will see a sign for the Cable Car. When you arrive, there will be a "Welcome" sign. You can show the QR code to the staff and take two cable car rides. Unfortunately, this pass cannot be used for amusement park rides, but it is still considered a good value.
I just discovered this through a good friend. The pass was so worth it for the price and number of days. Technically, I just used this for 3 days and I was able to go to Toba, Ise, Iga, and Kyoto. I maximized the perks of this pass. However, this can also be used starting in Osaka.
It's very convenient to purchase and easy to use, but you need internet access to activate the ticket and enter/exit stations. Also, this pass does not include limited express trains. If you need to take a limited express train, you need to purchase a reserved seat ticket separately. Kintetsu trains are quite comfortable, especially the sightseeing limited express trains, which are a must-ride. Not only are the train's exterior and interior beautiful, but you can also purchase meals to enjoy, making for a wonderful travel experience.
Kintetsu 5 days Pass was totally worth it as I was shifting places from Osaka to Kyoto to Nara then Osaka, this pass covered unlimited train ride gave me a wonderful experiences in Japan especially during spring season. I was abit worried coz of digital pass which is QR code (can’t keep screenshot to enter, QR will reload after 5 minutes) but as long as you got stable internet, it would be fine. please read the instructions carefully before buying so that you will be familiar with. In my case, I didn’t use the 5 days pass right away, at first I tried to use local train by using ICOCA once I landed in Osaka then used it for 2 days then got to know the train routes then I started using on my 3rd day. recommended 🫶
We were based in Nagoya and the Kintetsu Rail Pass was one of the best decisions we made for our trip. It gave us unlimited travel on Kintetsu trains and buses, which made visiting multiple destinations so easy and cost-effective. With the pass, we went to Nara, Toba Aquarium, Ise, and Nabana no Sato without worrying about buying separate tickets each time. It also covered local buses, which saved us even more. The convenience of just hopping on and off without lining up for tickets was a huge plus, and it definitely paid for itself after just a couple of trips. If you’re planning to explore areas around Nagoya, especially in Mie and Nara prefectures, this pass is a great value. We highly recommend it!
It was so easy to use! bought 4 tickets and were issued QR codes at time of use. Just proceed to designated QR lane and scan for each person riding. QR refreshes every 5mins. Namba-Kyoto-Nara-Namba!
Most valued pass! I noticed that the difference is around ¥1,000 without the pass. Nara park (the deer park) just across the Kintetsu-Nara station. My trip from Osaka Namba was around an hour, took the rapid express for less stop station. The plus point is riding the cable car (tram) to Ikomasanjo amusement park. I had my lunch there enjoying the view. Make sure to have internet and phone battery to scan the train pass cause you can't screenshot the qr code.
Used it to Kyoto, Nara, and Nagoya or vice versa. It was worth it. Instead of buying one single ticket, have this pass instead.
Booking the Kintetsu Rail Pass for Japan's Kansai region online was very convenient. I purchased a one-day pass, primarily for traveling between Osaka and Nara on Kintetsu trains, and for using buses and Kintetsu within Nara city. In Nara, besides feeding the deer, we also visited various temples. Each time, we simply showed our QR code for unlimited rides on Kintetsu trains and buses, which was incredibly convenient.
We saved a lot with this pass. We were able to visit Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Mie, and Nagoya in 5 days! It’s worth the trip. It’s also very easy to use.
