Kyoto Seasonal Home Cooking Class
- Learn authentic Japanese home cooking in a local Kyoto home
- Prepare a seasonal four-dish lunch with ingredients that change monthly
- Reach the venue easily from Kyoto Botanical Gardens and the Imperial Palace
- Enjoy a relaxed, social cooking and dining experience with your host and fellow travelers
What to expect
Step into a welcoming Kyoto kitchen and cook like a local. This hands-on class focuses on everyday Japanese home cooking rather than famous dishes like sushi or ramen. Using seasonal ingredients, you’ll prepare comforting recipes that reflect how people really eat at home, and your host shares original recipes so you can recreate them after your trip.
Your instructor draws on experience in an organic restaurant and catering. After an introduction to the menu and techniques, you cook together, then sit down to enjoy your four-dish lunch.
The class lasts about three hours, and the menu changes monthly with the seasons, from bright yuzu flavors in winter to tofu and tamagoyaki in spring. Chat with your host about daily life, food customs, and seasonal traditions in Kyoto.
