What to expect
Kyoto Prefecture. Wazuka tea is said to be the gocha or parent tea of Uji tea. Wazuka Tea Cafe is the only direct sales store in Japan that has more than 300 tea products selected by producers using only Wazuka tea. In addition, as a base for cultural exchange, information dissemination, and sightseeing, it is popular not only for the local people but also for tourists visiting Wazuka. The store is lined with various items such as tea-related miscellaneous goods and traditional Japanese bundle products. There is also a café space wrapped in the warmth of wood at the back of the store, where you can enjoy tea sweets. The lady who taught the class was so sweet and informative. I learned a lot about the matcha growing and farming process. She even helped me pick out some tea to bring home to friends and family. The only thing is that the location was so far from Uji where I was looking for classes. (That’s on Klook). Also I was under the impression we would be grinding matcha not just making a cup so that was a little disappointing.
We were only given the matcha tea ceremony and we were not able to grind matcha because they said they don't grind matcha at the cafe. Although there are many tea products you can buy in the cafe.
