lovely hotel! extremely generous spread for dinner and breakfast! 5 mins walk to the town and Hell Valley!love love the onsen! the shuttle bus was very worth it,stops right in front of the hotel,i understand you can take the jr train however its twice the price. it costs 1000yen one way to the hotel via the bus. seamless transfer. Stay at Hotel Mahoroba – Noboribetsu, March 2025 During my March 2025 stay at Hotel Mahoroba in Noboribetsu, I experienced a blend of traditional Japanese hospitality and modern comforts. Room and Amenities I opted for a Japanese-style room, which was spacious and featured tatami flooring and futon bedding. The room was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment. Onsen Facilities The hotel’s onsen facilities were impressive, offering a variety of indoor and outdoor baths. The sulfur and iron-rich baths were particularly rejuvenating, providing a unique and authentic hot spring experience. Dining Experience Both dinner and breakfast were served buffet-style, featuring a wide array of Japanese and Western dishes. The dinner buffet included fresh seafood options, such as crab and sashimi, which were of notable quality. The breakfast spread offered various choices, ensuring a satisfying start to the day. Location The hotel’s location is convenient, being within walking distance to Jigokudani (Hell Valley) and the Noboribetsu Onsen area. This proximity allowed for easy exploration of local attractions. Overall Experience My stay at Hotel Mahoroba was enjoyable, combining traditional accommodations with modern amenities. The onsen facilities and dining options were particularly noteworthy, making it a memorable visit.

My husband and I really loved this hotel. At first when booking we thought its really old, little did we know it has so much to offer! The onsen were very relaxing with many types of baths, the outdoor bath was so magical as it was snowing while I was soaking, really once in a lifetime experience. The ladies and men’s side will switch overnight so you can enjoy both sides, make sure to go! Although it was quite pricey as we booked last minute, the hotel has great service, has breakfast and dinner buffet (must go for dinner buffet as it has freeflow snow crab!!) and the best part is it is already complementary to the hotel booking no need to pay extra! There’s a cute gift shop in the lobby too. I forgot to mention, but the bed are the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept on. Located very near to bear park & Jigokudani.

The onsen and hotel was so amazing. The location is a bit difficult to get to so make sure you book your travel in advance

Though we only spend one night here, we enjoyed our Noboribetsu experience, also it is our first time joining other people in a bath completely naked. it was all ok as it didn't feel awkward at all. There are different onsen pools you can choose but we never dared to go to the outdoor onsen pool as it is freezing cold outside 🤣 there are provided yukatas you can wear. we have tattoos so we are not allowed, but we told the staff recommended for us to check the pool area first if there are a lot of people, if there are few we can go without covering our tattoos, and good thing there are almost no people so we had the pool area for ourselves worry-free.

Entire hotel including the rooms are dated. Chose a 4-tatami room which is basic but comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids. Buffet was decent. Public onsen was spacious and clean. Walking distance to the sulphur spring, geysers and hiking trail.
