Shanghai Zhujiajiao Ancient Town tours

Our day trip with Kalvin was a great way to see and experience Zhujiajiao. Kalvin, a local Shanghainese, is so knowledgeable and shares details that we would otherwise miss if we were touring on our own. We enjoyed a leisurely walk through 课植园, a boat ride down the canals and a sumptuous 农家菜 meal at a local shop (Kalvin ordered and the food was delicious). We did the tour as a family with 2 young kids and Kalvin was patient with us as we took longer to move about/managed the kids. Highly recommend this tour and Kalvin’s services!

Alana contacts us the day before to provide us with the tour details. Berlin is our tour guide and she is knowledgeable and gives us detailed history of Shanghai. We intend to go to the bund on our own and Berlin is flexible to replace with Xin Tian Din. The view at Shanghai tower allows us to see almost the whole of Shanghai. The local Shanghai products are cheaper to buy at Zhu Jia Jiao water town. The lunch is good with recommendation by Berlin. Berlin treated us to Sheng Jian Bao at water town which is delicious. The boat ride is about 20 min which brings us around the water town. The tour is well planned which caters to the needs of adults and kids.

What a great day spent in Zhujiaojiao with Tour Guide Yang! The area had beautiful architecture, interesting spots and nice shops going from historical, artsy, for the foodie, and for animal cutees. Yang spoke english very well (and german) and it was just super helpful because there were very limited english in all shops so we went through many areas quickly. He pointed out the "must picture" spots and pointed out the historical as well as culturally distinctive areas and items. This also saved me from trying out food that looked interesting but may give me a lot of regret. It was my first day in China and he also helped set up my payment system so i can use in small shops. Being a private tour, we were not at all in a hurry and made for a very relaxing, souvenir shopping success day!

The most satisfying part for us is not the itinerary in this package but the tour guide who received us. This itinerary made us understand that what makes people happy is never the scenery but the people we get along with along the way, whether it is service or arrangements. Everything is impeccable. I am very satisfied with this time today.

Exciting tour at film park city with everything so surreal but is fake, especially the war-damaged buildings. Movies like Death to Rights and Kung Fu Hustle were filmed here. Lunch under own expense at Zhujiajiao and very pricey meals so just order the cheapest and get more street food outside.

Visiting Zhujiajiao Ancient Town and Yuyuan Garden was a beautiful journey into Shanghai’s history and culture. Zhujiajiao felt peaceful and charming, with its canals, stone bridges, and traditional houses creating a slow, nostalgic atmosphere. Walking along the waterways, enjoying local snacks, and watching boats glide past was truly relaxing. In contrast, Yuyuan Garden was more vibrant and detailed, showcasing classical Chinese garden design with pavilions, ponds, and intricate rock formations. The surrounding market added excitement with souvenirs and street food. Our tour guide was extremely friendly and generous with knowledge, patiently sharing stories and cultural insights that made the experience even more meaningful and memorable.
