    1. Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence

    The Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall is probably one of the most famous attractions in Taipei. Built to honor the former president of the Republic of China, this place welcomes thousands of tourists every day.

    But if you’re interested to know where this prominent political leader spent some of his days during his reign, you may want to check out the Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence. See some of the furniture and fixture that he and his wife used during their stay. Explore the house’s garden filled with Chinese and Western-style horticulture for a breath of fresh air!

    2. Ten Drum Cultural Village

    Have you ever heard of the talented Ten Drum Art Percussion Group? Well, here is where you could find them. This approximately 5-hectare attraction was previously a sugar cane factory until it was overhauled in 2005 to make use of the vast but unused space. It has since been transformed into a modernized park infused with Taiwanese culture.

    When you visit this village, you can explore the percussion group's dream-like performance theater and also visit multiple fun-filled facilities inside the park including a secondhand book store and a skywalk bridge. There is also a unique cafe built inside a tank that features beautiful industrial-style decors.

    3. Eternal Golden Castle

    Do you want to get away from the busy city life of Taipei and see more of Taiwan’s historic sites? Then a visit to the Eternal Golden Castle in Tainan is a must. This landmark was a brainchild of Shen Baozhen, a Ching Dynasty official. He supposedly commissioned a French architect to design this modern-era fortress to protect them against the growing threat of the Japanese at that time.

    When you visit this attraction, you would see a cement bridge that was constructed by the Japanese and is still in use today. Either you walk through this bridge to go directly into the castle, or you could hire a boat to take a ride around the moat. Since the castle is surrounded by a lot of trees, the site is also a good place for kids to play around.

    4. Anping Old Fort

    After your visit to the Eternal Golden Castle, you may want to head over to Anping Old Fort. Also located at the Anping District in Tainan, this is the first fort built by the Dutch in Anping in 1624.

    Just a walk around the square would make you feel the history of Tainan for the past 300 years. You could also check the whole view of the fort from the observatory with red-bricked and white wall. What are you waiting for? Go ahead and see this popular attraction!

    5. Chimei Museum

    The Chimei Museum is known for its ancient Greek architecture and beautiful exteriors. But beyond its style and look, this museum houses a comprehensive collection of Western artistry in many forms.

    6. Dragon and Tiger Pagodas

    The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are arguably two of the most famous attractions among tourists in Taiwan. The two towers sit at the Lotus Pond, which is a man-made lake that plays habitat to a variety of exotic lotus plants. Located at the Zuoying District, it is must see for any tourist to explore this famed lake and its surrounding wonders.

    7. Longshan Temple

    The Longshan Temple is one of the oldest temples in Taiwan. Located in district of Manka in Taipei, the temple was built in 1738 by immigrants from Chin-chiang, Nan-an and Hui-an of Fukien. Being followers of the ancient Longshan Temple from their native land, they built this branch when they came to Manka in the beginning of the eighteenth century. The temple was rebuilt in 1919 with Mr. Wang Yi-shun, a master of temple-building in southern Fukien, as the architect.

    8. National Palace Museum

    There is no better way of knowing more about a city’s history and culture than visiting a local museum. If you’re in Taiwan, the National Palace Museum is one of the must-see attractions in the city. It houses treasures of cultural relics dating back to almost 5,000 years. When you visit this museum, make sure to check out its three major town halls including the "Music Stone," "Kiyuyu Cabbage," and "Mao Gongding.”
